Worried about SMA Gold now

ive always used sma gold then blue no problems x

i used sma and my son has never had regular bowel movements.... but im not sure if the milks to blame- he's always had constipation issues.

Chloe has beem on SMA since birth too...no probs here except when i tried her on SMA white (hungrier baby milk) it made her constipated xxx

I had used SMA Gold with my dd when she was a baby and she was perfect on it, then when I was pregnant with my son I decided to use Aptamil because of all that Immufortis (sp?) in it. From the get go he was always sick with it and the powder always seemed really grainy to me. I switched him onto SMA when he was a around 6 weeks old and it all stopped and he was perfect and happy. He never had constipation with SMA gold but I think he did when he went onto the white.

As others have said, every baby is different and will react differently. My lo was on gold since birth and is now on the 6 months plus one, she is absorlutly fine and very healthy, never been constipated. SMA has been around years and I know it as a very trusted brand as all my family have used this formula, I wouldn't have gone with anything else.

Some babies do seem more prone to constipation/reflux/rashes on SMA gold, however not all do and my two sons that were partially bottlefed were not ok with aptamil either so if they have a prob with SMA they may well have a prob with any other 'conventional' formula as well, its not the SMA specifically.

my lo has been on SMA since birth, and no probs other than it doesnt satisfy him. Were just about to switch to C&G as its thicker, but other than that its been fine x

It will either suit him or it won't, just like any other milk brand.

Tom's been on SMA Gold since day 3 and he's 4 months now - no problems and not constipated either.

I'd see if you can swap some of the SMA for other brands so you have a selection to try if you're really worried about it. In the first couple of weeks Tom had some aptimal as well because I couldn't get SMA cartons one night and it didn't seem to make any difference to him.

i havent read through everyones responses to you but my experience has been very positive of SMA Gold. My son had it (now on toddler variety) and I never had any issues. My new bab girl is on it too and again no probs. Neither have ever suffered from constipation. Lou has silent reflux but would have had that regardless of brand of milk. X

I breastfed up until a couple of days a go, but through the last 8 weeks he has has SMA gold as top ups at night time when not producing enough milk and my little boy has never had a problem with it. But like another lady said every baby is different x
