So my DD has a cold, which always guarantees she will wake up multiple times a night and be inconsolable.

It's only 10pm but she's up for the 5th (!!) time tonight. DH is out visiting the neighbors, so I go up to her room and offer her some water (which is what she usually wants) and she absolutely loses it and starts kicking and screaming and crying for "papa!" I tried comforting her for 10 minutes but it was only escalating, then her screaming woke up the baby, so I left her to feed him and came back 10 min later once DS2 was asleep again (while she continued to cry herself hoarse). When I opened the door she saw it was me and just lost it again, screaming "nooo!!!" so I've closed the door and am standing outside of her room.

At the moment she's in her room crying out for papa/DH. And I'm not sure what a better approach could be?

Any suggestions of something that helps your LO's out of these types of situations? I don't want to make it worse and am trying to decide between letting her CIO (hoping she gets tired soon and goes back to sleep) or sitting in her room and making it worse...

Can you just call your DH? If DD is ill and wants one of us we just let her, it's not personal even though it feels it sometimes
