Hi, first time posting in this section!

I recently found out I am pregnant again after 4 mcs (I also have a little girl who is 18 months old). I've had 3 mcs before 7 weeks and 1 at 11+3 which was the most recent in February.

The reason I am posting here is to find out if anyone can offer any advice on tests I can get done etc before I see my consultant in almost 3 weeks time. I don't know how far along I am but would estimate 5-6 weeks so I am getting nervous as this is the time when I usually miscarry. I was wondering if it was worth going to the doctors to get progesterone/estrogen levels checked and also if there was anything else I can do? I've read that people with PCOS have a tendency towards low progesterone/high estrogen levels which can cause mc so I read that eating lots of dairy and meat can help to counter this. Now I've read that these things can contain lots of artificial hormones so avoid them! Seems you can't do right for doing wrong.

If anyone has any advice re the above or anything else you can add please feel free, it feels like forever till my appointment and I'm worried it'll all be over by then for a fifth time

I don't really have any advice for you, but I would try and keep your mind busy until your appointment. That's what I am doing. I have heard over and over that if you are going to miscarry, there is nothing anyone can do for you. It happens because it needs to. I have read though that people have luteal phase defects and other issues related to progesterone, etc. So if it makes you feel better and eases your mind, then definitely go ask for some testing. After so many miscarriages I am surprised your doc hasn't wanted to test you anyway. I have had one miscarriage, one live birth, one ectopic and am currently pregnant again but only in my 7th week today and at my first appt last week the doc couldn't find the heartbeat. So....yeah - I am just trying to keep busy until Friday when I have another ultrasound.

Awww hope everything.goes ok for you on Friday. I hate how the days seem to take forever to pass when your waiting for your scan date or other appointments. I have no idea how far along I am cos my periods have been screwed up since last mc. Will check here for an update on Friday - my scan isnt until Tie :( xx

And really, the waiting is the hardest part. I feel like every step of pregnancy is just waiting, and worrying. It's exhausting and really hard to enjoy. They should change the old saying to "time flys when you're having fun, but really drags a$$ when you're not", or something to that affect. :haha:

Well, I got good news today. I am 7 weeks and 3 days and we did see the beautiful little heartbeat at 127 BPM.
I hope your scan goes great on Tuesday! Make sure to update!

Aaaah thats fab news!!! I have no idea how far along I am but reckon I'll also be somewhere around the seven week mark on Tuesday if everythings ok. I've had spotting the last couple of days but did another pregnancy test today and the line is still really dark and strong so I'm just hoping everything's ok. Thanks for the update! Really pleased for you :happydance:

Oh I am so sorry to hear that. Please have your doctor do some testing on you! Something is up to be having this happen like this. I will keeps you in my thoughts and pray that your doctor can figure something out and the next one sticks around. :hugs:

I have a scan booked for thursday to check I dont need a D&C and then an appointment in the afternoon with my GP, what sort of things should I be asking her to do other than a referral? Blood tests etc, meds? Not sure where to begin with this, I want to feel like I'm doing something towards getting this moving forward. xx

Could be a Luteal Phase Defect where your body doesn't make enough progesterone on it's own...I am not sure of how they do testing for this. You would need to take some progesterone supplements (next time you get pregnant ask for the Prog. in oil injections because I heard those are better than the oral meds).
Also, I take a Heparin shot twice a day, which is a blood thinner, "just in case" according to my doctor. I don't really know what the "just in case" means, but it has something to do with the bloodflow in my uterus. I did that with my first pregnancy too - I was never diagnosed with any kind of disorder, the doctor literally said this was "just in case" after my first miscarriage.
I don't know if you are just seeing your regular OB but, maybe it is time you go see a specialist. They would know what type of testing to have done. This many miscarriages is not just a fluke.
Good luck to you! I really hope you get the attention you need from your doc and this all gets figured out soon.
