Would the initials bother you?

Hi All

We have found out we are expecting another girl.

Our Daughter is called Eve Marie and our surname begins with a G, we really like the name Olivia for our 2nd Daughter and would have Marie as her middle name to go with Eve's and mine!

That would mean Olivia's initials would be OMG, personally it doesn't bother me but some family members have mentioned it and say we can't use Marie as a middle name.

Would the initials bother you?

Those initials wouldn't bother me. I find that I rarely write my full initials out anyway, usually just first and last initials. Olivia Marie sounds great and I like the idea of you sharing a middle name with both your daughters.

I can't think when I've ever used my middle initial. It's either full name or 2 initials.

As pp said it isn't awful or rude. Plus in a few years OMG will be like wazzzzzup

Generally speaking initials do bother me, say if it was ASS or NOB or something relatively offensive. OMG isnt bad at all. I wouldnt be put off by that.

My dhs initials are BJ!! We've been together since school, so I was teased a lot for writing "I love BJ" on my books/pencil case etc!!!

I honestly don't think he's really taken any notice of it!!! Lol! Was funny at the time!

It would bother me, but I'm overly sensitive. Kids are cruel, so while her friends might not poke fun at her if it gets out then that's a bullying conversation to possibly deal with. But as she ages she'll shrug it off. The main reason I would ultimately nix it is I love the movie "You Again" and her initials were Moo. When the bride to be jerk got bridesmaids gifts, she got necklaces with their initials on them. So with initials OMG there would be a lot of explaining. Plus then you have to explain to people all the time that the initials were not intentional... I know etiquette says to just say beautiful name and the initials do not matter, but that's not my opinion. But I want to stress that it is just my opinion so it's not worth a whole lot lol. Congrats on your baby girl!

I do like the way Olivia Marie rolls off the tongue though

I think we will definitely stick with Olivia Marie, Eve chose it when we gave her a few options in names we also liked.

What's cute to is that my hubby, Eve, Olivia and myself will all have the MG initials after our first name.

When I was a kid (and even as an adult) I had no idea what any of my friends' middle names were, so I highly doubt any of her peers will even know those are her initials unless she tells them. It wouldn't put me off at all.

Unless it spelt something rude then I wouldn't let it out me off. The initials of this little one will most likely make up GIL or GEL, I'm not really thinking too much about it, as pp said it's hardly noticed x

How many people actually know your full 3 initials anyway. Plus, she will get married one day so it will change. I wouldn't worry about it..
