Would this put you off?

I heard yesterday that Dannii Minogue has had a wee boy and called him Ethan...... This was top of our boys list and it's totally put me off now.... I really don't want people thinking that we've hopped on that bandwagon!

My OH says it's ridiculous to take the name of my list because of that, especially when our baby isn't due for 2 months, but to be honest, it's just put me right off it.... I was never 100% on it anyway, but now it's just put me right off!

I was the same when I was pregnant with my LO. Hubby really wanted Max for a boy and I had agreed but while I was preg both Kerry Catona and JLo both had sons and named them Max so it came straight off the list but only because I was worried it would start a nameing craze and I really didn't want my little Max being one of 3 Max's in school. But we had a girl and now I'm preg with #2 and it's right there at the top again.

Ethan is a lovely name and if it hadn't been for hubby hating it it would have been my #1 choice xx

I would be put off it it was a weird name that everyone with associate with that celeb. But, I know of several babies with that name and I dont think anyone would associate it with her or think you copied because its a boys name that is fairly popular at the moment.

Yeah the fact that it's sounding popular at the moment i think is partly the reason it's putting me off. As someone else said, I don't want my LO going to school and being one of 3 Ethan's in his class......

- Aaron - I thought this was a bit of a less popular name, but my neighbour had a wee boy and was about to call him Aaron and the midwife told them that he'd be the 6th Aaron she'd delivered this week!

I agree, if it was a really unusual name like Apple or Peaches or something but because its a relatively 'normal' name I don't think people would associate the name with Dannii.

I've worried about things like that, we love the name Edward but with the whole Twilight phenomenon I'm worried it's going to leap in popularity and people will assume that's why we've chosen it!

I LOVED Ethan too, but DH wasn't as keen, so it wasn't top of our list but definitely a real contender.... until Dannii had her baby lol. Now its OFF the list for sure; but then my baby is due anytime now. Not sure if it was 2 months down the line if I would have thought too much about it though.

However, with my second son, we had decided to call him Ben (if he was a boy haha) from being about 20w preggers and a few weeks before he was born I discovered my neighbour was calling her unborn son Ben too lol, I thought about changing my mind but tbh LOVED Ben so much that we stuck with it; and I am glad we did!

Maybe Ethan was never that much of a coontender afterall ?? xx

Know exactly where you're coming from!! We liked Ethan if we have a boy (team yellow) but now we're not so sure either?!

Part of me thinks sod what people say, its a gorgeous name but then another part thinks that there's going to be loads of little Ethan's running around?
