Would you use a 25 year old Moses basket ?

It's the Moses basket my bf was in as a baby . It's been newly lined and new mattress in it . Been kept very clean and in black bag since it was last used . What u think ?

I think it's up to you hun. I can say that I used a 10 year old cot for my son and it was fine. If it's been newly lined and has a new matress then I'd say it's probably fine xx

I would! And I am. My cot has had 17 members of OH's family in it and is 70+ years old. The Moses basket is also 25+ years old. It's traditional for them to use it and I think it's lovely. Both have been cleaned and repainted though, with new mattresses and etc. x

Yes I would, if the mattress is new and has been re-lined like you say, so basically it's the actual basket itself that is old. So long as it's in safe, clean condition I think it's fine to use and I think the sentimentality behind it is delightful

I used the Moses basket that was nearly 30 years old and that was fine just keep am eye on it and make sure that it is in good condition as the bottom of mine started to come away so I stopped using it but lo was around 8 weeks at the time n starting to outgrow it

I am planning moving baby into cot around 6 weeks anyway depending on how she is sleeping so she won't be in it for too long I'd say thanks for reply ladies

If its clean and has new lining and its a proper wicker moses basket they should last forever! I think it's more cots that are unsafe the older they get as the regulations have changed how far apart the bars are etc and as you say baby's not in a moses basket for long. I would I think it's a lovely idea

My Moses basket is 61 years old and baby will be the 3rd generation of my family to sleep in it. My Dad had great fun cleaning and repainting it, and Mam is in the middle of preparing the new dressing....so I say go for it, so long as your are comfortable with it.

If it is still in good shape and sturdy (and use a new mattress) I don't see why not!

as long as the wood/wicker is ok too hun ie not damp or weak etc then i think it looks lovely and will be fine x

I would I think it's lovely that it's got sentimental value .

I wish I used my Moses basket for Isabelle . We were brought a brand new one but she was only in it 6weeks was such a waste xxx

No, I would not use a moses basket at all new or used.

As long as its still sturdy and you've checked it thorough for any mite infestations and given it a good vacuum and air blast for dust then I don't see why not.
It certainly looks lovely.
Only thing is I use a MB for the convenience of allowing LO to sleep wherever I am in the house, otherwise I'd rather they slept in a cot.

Iv got her swing downstairs which I'm hoping she sleeps in during the day , the Moses basket will be going into our room for her during the night then from about 6 weeks on il be moving her into her nursery all going well so she will be in a cot

We have a family moses basket that is 50+ years old -Emily is using it now, it was cleaned properly, new mattress etc, as long as you make sure it is cleaned then I don't see why not
