We have chosen our name, and I have been happy with it for ages so I am sure it is for keeps, especially as I am liking nothing else BUT

The only reason I am doubting it a little...it is the name of my sister in laws nephew.
i.e. My husbands, sisters, husbands, brothers son!

They are no relation to us, but it does mean my sis in law would have 2 nephews called Aiden, and her son would have 2 cousins called Aiden.

I only ever see this person once or twice a year, so it's no big deal.

BUT, I was just thinking, if I found out they had called their daughter Kaitlyn, I think I would be a bit miffed! (I am such a hypocrite!)
What do you all think?
It really is a name I love, and I am not happy with anything else (we have tried).
Its not my fault she had a boy before me is it?!

If it were me then id name my baby aiden if thats the name you love. You could always spell it differently but thats just personal choice - have seen it spelt a few different ways such as:-

Aden
Ayden
Aydan
Aiden
Aidan

if you like the name use it, dont worry what anyone else thinks xx

Aiden is common enough that its not like you "stole" the idea for the name from them. It would be just a coincidence. I'm sure a couple generations ago this happened all the time as people stuck to more traditional names ie William, John etc.

I have a cousin named Katherine (my name is Kathryn), and they are a blood relation to me. I also have two cousins (related again) who both had boys and they both called them William (one of the boys goes by Liam). I think it's fine, especially if you really love it.

i think if you love a name, use it :D don't worry about anyone else xx

I think its perfectly acceptable to have the same name as he isn't immediate family to you.
