Hi Ladies,

I hope you can help, I have finally decided to kick my arse into gear and try and shift the baby weight (and then some ). I don't want to do any crash dieting or extreme vlcd. I have been on WW before and lost weight, have never tried Slimming World, for the ladies that have tried both which is better?- in terms of ease of use, value for money and overall results.

My biggest problem is losing motivation with slow losses even though I know that slow and steady losses is the way to go for long term success.

I look forward to hearing your replies, thanks in advance for any tips or advice.

I don't think it's about which one is best as in those trials you see.....they both work just as well in the long term.

From what I understand Slimming World barrs certain foods on certain days and that's something I could never do, I don't know what the rules are with alcohol in this diet as I've never done it.

WW allows you to eat anything you want as long as you stick with your points allowance and you can save a certain amount of points for a slurge/treat/meal out etc which is useful too:thumbup:

Look into what you are and aren't allowed on each diet and what you may find easiest to fit in with your own lifestyle....what's right for one person isn't always right for another:shrug:

Good luck....I really need to get in the right frame of mind to lose weight myself. I'm desperate to lose it but just don't have the oomph:cry:

I'm in Slimming World at the moment. I've also tried Weight Watchers in the past - in my opinion Slimming world is way better. No food is banned on it - you can have anything you want and can use flexible syns so if you had say a party to go to you could allow extra syns that night then get back on track.

In weightwatchers you get a certain amount of points to use a day and EVERYTHING you eat is included in this. So for example if you have pasta you have to count it into your points and have a certain amount of it weighed out. However on Slimming world, if you were on the green plan you could have unlimited amounts of pasta (a bucketful if you wanted!) Same goes for potatoes. Also there are superfree foods which are salad, vegetables pulses and more which on any plan you can have unlimited of these. Then you get healthy extras A and B which you're allowed 2 of each per day - A's are dairy so milk and cheese, B's include bacon, also fibre-rich food such as cereals. Then you get a certain amount of syns a day which you use for things like desserts, alcohol maybe, sauces etc.

Then they have red days which is like green except you can have unlimited amounts of certain meats. Even better, now they have an easier plan where you can mix them both - it's called extra easy. So you could have your meat, potatoes and unlimited veg for example.

I really think once you get the hang of it then slimming world is MUCH better - you never feel hungry and if you use the plan you could go all day on almost all free foods - you could have a huge dinner made of pasta and veg and its all completely free, no counting no weighing. in weightwatchers (and this is just my experience of it) the amount of points you're allowed can go really quickly with not much food to show for it.

I used WW a couple of years ago and lost 2 stone on it and my dad used slimming world and lost 3. I think it depends on what works for you, I wouldnt be able to cope with being able to eat everything on certain days and I liked the fact that I had to count everything I ate, which made it easier for me to keep an eye on what I ate. I think WW also o the core plan now whcih is very similar to the slimming world program.

It definitely is a case of try it and see. I would say as you've tried WW, give SW a go and see how you feel.

I think there's a lot more choice on SW and for me I ate a LOT healthier on SW than I did on WW but I lost weight on both - they both work!

SW has a new plan called extra easy, which eliminates the only eating certain things on certain days and is pretty good. It ensures you get lots and lots of healthy food, most fruit and veg being "free" food, then you get your healthy extras such as breakfast cereals, bread, stuff like that and then you get your syns which allow you to have some naughties too (chocolate, wine, all the good stuff!).

I think slimming world is a brilliant healthy eating plan, rather than a diet, it's a change you can make for life.

When I was on WW, I generally spent my points on WW cakes and other naughty food. So for me, my main aim is to be healthy - obviously losing weight helps that, but SW kinda gears you to proper healthy eating.

Of course, this is just my opinion. But I would say give it a go :) x

I've been on both SW and WW. At first I thought WW was the bees knees with the old SW plan only being able to eat certain foods on certain days but with the new plan thats out I have to say I much prefer Slimming World!

I have not tried SW but I am on WW. I think it depends on if you can make yourself eat healthy or not of your own free will. I think I eat relatively healthy on WW but that is because you can eat a lot more if you are eating healthy things because they are less points. When I was on WW a long time ago my mom kept all sorts of horrible stuff in the house and I ate it (because I could) but I was always cheating and going over on my points because I was STARVING.

Now that I have my own house it is working a lot better because I keep good things in my house and if you eat good things then you can eat A LOT. I am rarely hungry. And you can always be a little bit naughty at the end of the day with WW without going over.

But I hear great things about SW and they do seem more geared at getting you balanced meals, so if you have trouble eating healthy on your own you can go with them too. It's all up to you.

I think I might go with WW - mainly because I have tried it before ages ago and I did lose weight and never really went hungry, SW sounds good but I have a hard time dealing with new stuff at the moment (my memory, concentration is shot to pieces since LO arrived) so I don't think I will do well on that.

I haven't weighed myself since I fell pregnant but I have a feeling I weigh a hell of lot more than I think - so first thing I need to do is face those scales and find out exactly how much I weigh...

thank you for all your replies...
