This may be a little TMI. I have never had symptoms of a yeast infection but at my appointment on April 1st, my dr. swabbed me and it came back positive. She gave me the one pill antibiotic for it. About 24 hours after taking the pill, I had massive amounts of gross, smelly (not strong) discharge coming out. Well, I just went to the bathroom and I have the same kind of discharge!! Is this a new yeast infection? I have my next appointment on 5/30. Should I try to go in before then or just wait? I am not itching or anything like that, just having discharge when I wipe. Any thoughts?
And for the record, I had never had a yeast infection before pregnancy so this is all new to me. :(

I had a yeast infection with no. Symptoms picked up by a swap and was prescribed canesten peas arise. I assume it did the job because I didn't develop any symptoms.

In the U.K. I think it's available without a prescription and my dr confirmed the peas arise were fine during pregnancy. Could you buy them in a pharmacy. They're a bit gross but do work.

I'd say maybe give it another day or 2 and then phone the dr, you should have to put up with it for another 2 weeks.

I would definitely call your doctor.

Are you sure you don't have bacterial vaginosis? It can easily be mistaken for a yeast infection, and treatment for a yeast infection wouldn't work on it...

My bill from the lab said it was tested for Candida infection, which is a yeast infection, right?

Yeah, that would be a yeast infection...

I'm surprised they prescribed you Diflucan (the one time pill)...when I had a yeast infection during my first pregnancy, they told me to get OTC Monistat cream (ONLY the 7 day kind is recommended in pregnancy), and to insert the tube only slightly inside, rather than as far as it would go. This actually took care of it for me, and I felt relief right away.

Yeast infections in pregnancy are very common, due to the fluctuations in hormones, and also an increase in vaginal discharge.

I would call your doc again, however, and just ask what else you could do to clear it up.
