Am looking for indoor/outdoor markets/retail parks/shopping centres (not Meadowhell :gun: )/carboot sales around Yorkshire. My friend and I have LO's the same age and just need to get out somewhere different than Meadowhall (again and again) or the park or coffee in Starbucks, or each others houses :dohh: I need suggestions, pleeeeease :flower: xx

I am in Leeds and sometimes go to the Birstall Retail Park which is just off junction 27 on the M62. there's a Mamas & Papas, Toys r us, Ikea, Next, River Island, Gap, M&S, Boots, Dorothy Perkins, Wallis, Costa Coffee and other shops too.

Oooh Ikea! Good idea, thanks  Usually reserved for xmas (or when I need tea-lights lol)

weds indoor and out door markets

sun second hand market from 6 till 12 not too good

also all the shops are open everday but close at 4 on a sunday

Kirkgate Market used to be marvelous, not sure what its like now but its huge.

Birstall retail park and the White Rose Centre are good.

V xxx

White Rose centre? Pain in the ass on a weekend but quiet through the week x

I like the big Mothercare at Crown Point Retail Park in Leeds too. There are loads of other shops there too, TK Maxx, Next, Asda home, Hobbycraft and lots more and it is only a 5 min walk from the city centre.

Thanks, I'm in Sheffield so Doncaster would be pretty good. We even considered Trafford Centre but with two 6 month olds in the car it could be a bit too much of an eventful journey :? xx

I agree birstall retail park is good but not on a weekend! Also same rules apply for the White Rose! Morley market is ok too! X

I am in York, and don't find much to do here to be honest xx

I'm North Leeds and I love Birstall shopping. Always very busy though.
York has a designer outlet on the outskirts (MacArthur Glen, think its on the A64) which has some good shops and bargains to be had especially for Christmas pressies :-)

Avoid Kirkgate Market in Leeds town centre. It has beautiful architecture and as previous poster said it is massive but unfortunately most of the stalls have gone now.
Crown Point is also good for a mixture of shops and there's a Mothercare there so good if you have LO's to change.

You should have a day out in Chesterfield. We don't have that much stuff to do, we have a few parks, shops etc, but its a nice place. Very pretty :D

parkgate retail world in rotherham plenty of shops, theres lakeside in donny and about a 2 min walk from there is a big lake we take connor for a walk round, or what about taking them swimming?

sorry to be gate crashing your thread, just wondering if anyone has any idea's of what my OH can do with his daughter.

He only get's to see her between 2.30-4.30 (tho can give or take abit of time). It's supervised with a old friend of his. OH live's in Rotherham, and daughter and friend will be coming from woodseats sheffield.
Does anyone have any idea's of what/where they can go, that is easy for them both to get to, doesn't cost too much for the adults (other wise we will have to pay for "friend" and can't really afford it! Ench why we don't go on day's out much), it's need's to be something where OH can interact with his daughter...they have already been to a wacky warehouse, so wanting somewhere abit different. (daughter is only 2, and it sound's like her mum doesn't really take her many place's). I'v suggested swimming..so need to put that idea to the "friend".
But if anyone else know's of anywhere will be great :)

Hey, Graves Park is fantastic! It's got a lovely little animal farm, some really nice little gardens, little play area, a little train that runs through the park, a lovely cafe (bit pricey though) and if you fancy it some really great walks. The animal farm is brilliant!! xx

it's mainly out door's tho isn't it?
The friend suggested there, but it's not to far from the ex's and he doesnt want her to just be able to "turn up"

Ahh I see. Hmmm . . . I don't know of many places in Sheffield. I've been here three years now and I'm still not familiar :dohh: Endcliffe Park is gorgeous, but again mostly outside. I think there's one of those like soft play areas around the Rotherham area, but I'm not sure. There's that monkey place at Centertainment, can't remember exactly what it's called. I'm useless lol. xx

It's ok, i'v lived in rotherham all my life, and still don't know some place's.
If we knew weather was going to be good alday then Gervase park probably wouldn't be that bad, he'd just have to leave if the EX turned up and started making things difficult.
Yeh that monkey business place..we took OH's neice there, and walked straight back out, the price was daft...we took her across to burger king and while we had dinner, she went in there soft play thing.
He just doesn't want to keep taking her to these play place's because he's not getting to interact with her.
Plus the EX is expecting him to pay for the mate's travel, plus food and drink for his daughter and for where ever he takes them (which we don't mind that bit) even tho he has already paid CSA, which we only just manage on his wage's after CSA anyway, so it's just making it harder for us. I'v told him not to pay for the mate's travel, because if it was the EX doing the supervising thing, then he wouldn't pay for her travel.(sorry this is a whole new thread i think!! lol)

It's definately not fair of him to have to pay to take the friend out too. In that case how about just staying home, perhaps having a proper play with LO. Make a nice like tea party lunch. Let her have all the fun she wants in the house. Kids love building dens and stuff don't they, and it's even more fun when adults get involved  Hope your OH has a lovely day with his LO whatever they do together :hugs: xx
