Hey all you lovelies, was just wondering if anyone else is hoping to have a homebirth? Or water pain relief free low intervention birth in hospital?

I think it's a bit more common here in NZ as my WHOLE family in the UK are freaking out about my decision to home birth. A main thing they say is that it's nice to stay in hospital for a few days after LO is born and I won't have that option. But um, unless LO or myself are dying we get kicked out in 3 hours anyway. It's pretty much totally midwife oriented here, I don't have an OBGYN whatever that is????

Anyway enough rambling!

I really wanted a homebirth.
But I had to many compilations.
I did end up having a pain free labor and birth.

I hope your able to have a home birth!

I had preeclampsia.
I was induced at 38 weeks.
My next baby I want a home birth.
I had a great birth even though I was induced.

I wanted a home birth but that's gone out of the window ever since I became Anemic. I am still hoping to use no drugs during labour though! x

OBGYN is a doctor special for pregnant women :haha:
i'm too scared to home birth, but more power to you if you think you can :)

i'm not having a homebirth because i'm just too scared to be away from hospital if i need it [i'm a fair distance] but i am planning a waterbirth in the midwife centre which is NO doctors, just midwives and i'm hoping for a drug free birth! :D

not planning a home birth even though i would have liked one, dad said no way!!!!

am hoping for a waterbirth in hospital though

No home birth for me! But I hope all the ladies that want one get one! You guys are super strong!
Side note; has anyone seen "The Back Up Plan" with JLo? There's a home birth scene in there and it's pretty hilarious! :haha:

Good luck to all you drug free ladies!

I don't feel brave, I got SO freaked out by all the hospital birth stories to be honest. My mother had the worlds most traumatic births IN hospital and still supports them? WTF!
My sister was posterior and she tried to crawl around on all fours but her midwife made her lie down!!! F*** that.

I guess I'm just a control freak and thats where no intervention comes in, the thought of being strapped down is just so traumatic.

All the midwives here were like oh pfft, you're 19 it'll just fall out!

So is it unusual to not have an OBGYN?

I have just a midwife here and am hoping to have as little pain relief and intervention as possible. I have some ridiculous fear of having an anaesthetic of any kind so ive never had one before and the thought of an epidural is terrifying. I like to be in control of myself so i dont like taking things that dont make me feel in control. Not sure i want gas and air either for that reason. Will have to see though!

Gas and air isn't ment to be too bad so I've heard. Not spacey like pethadine.

How have people reacted to you saying you don't want pain relief?

i couldn't have had a homebirth. i'm too paranoid about something happening! i think its brilliant that you are planning on one! good luck hun :flower:

Ive only really mentioned it to my mum and OH. She didnt really have much with her births either. My brother was 9lb 4 and she only had pethidine but they gave it to her too late and he slept for the rest of the week and id rather not have anything get through to the baby. And she had nothing with me and i was 7lb 11. So shes pretty supportive of not having anything.

<--- Wants a home birth, but since this is OH's first baby, he wants her born in the hospital. Also he would rather wait til we own a home ect ect.. But he promised our next (and last baby) can be a home birth.

Llaammee, what's your wish list for a hospital birth?

I spent 29 hours labouring at home in a birth pool and then transferred to hospital and gave birth 43 hours after labour began :) I am determined to do the whole thing at home next time!

I LOVED being at home and being able to use my birth pool (I was planning a natural, hospital birth at first, but I am stubborn and when I found out that none of the local hospitals would let me birth the way I wanted, I decided to stay at home ;)) even though I ended up giving birth in hospital.

P.S My hubby wasn't particularly happy about me birthing at home to start with, and then got on board totally :) The first baby is the least risky as everything moves much more slowly - meaning if something happens you have more time to make a decision and transfer to hospital if need be.

You guys are awesome! I'm a hb hopeful too (just..you know...years away.) I'd like to have a water birth or to at least labor in water. I've always been drawn to water so it really is very natural for me to want to do this. :)

im hopeing for a waterbirth at home :) if not im having a waterbirth in the birthing unit which is completely mw led i also dont want any pain relief i want 100% natural birth

I hope u get to have the birth u want but i would say dont get to set on it, cuz u will be disappointed if ur not able to.
I had a birth plan but didnt go how i wanted it to
x
