Hi ladies,

I just came back from an appointment with my ob and she said I am 1 cm dilated, baby's head is very low and my cervix is soft. She said she thinks I will go into labour in the next week...

She's very experienced and I trust her opinion a lot BUT I know the statistics are against me as a first time mum.

Anyone else experienced this and gone into labour shortly after, or alternatively taken another few weeks?

p.s I've had no other signs of labour i.e. lost mucus plug but I am getting contractions and period type pain every 12 hours or so.

:flower:

I was 1 cm at 34+5. No progress since then. I was told that women can stay dilated for many weeks like that, but everybody is different so who knows. It could be a good sign for you. :)

I was 1.5cm dilated at my sweep on Friday and baby was 2/5 engaged. No progress yet.

I just wanted to update this thread...

I lost my mucus plug yesterday and it was slightly bloody (bloody show?) - the blood tinged mucus has continued last night and this morning... I've had lower back pain and a feeling like my period is coming....

Perhaps the doctor's prediction will be right!

x

I was 1cm and very soft last Thursday when I had my sweep. Had a couple of bloody shows over the weekend with some irregular contractions. Now nothing. I am being induced on Thursday. Good luck x

my friend had her sweep at 39 weeks and was 2cm the mw thought that'd she'd probably been like that for a few weeks as the baby had started to engage at 34 weeks. She obviously had no idea that she was already dilating but ended up going to 40+3, everyone is different. Fingers crossed its your turn soon!

Ohh I hope it is the start of something for u... :)

Ooh sounds like it could be it! I know so many people who had their first early so I wouldn't worry about that. I was only 1 day over my due date. Good luck x

With my first I was dilated since at least 32 weeks (that's the first time she checked) 1 cm. I think at either my 38 or 39 week it was pretty thin and stretched to 2 cm. I ended up having to be induced at 41 weeks :(

Good luck!
