Hi ladies,

today was my first prenatal appointment. The dr. firdt did the vaginal ultr sound and could only see the sac, no baby, no heart beat? So she then did the normal ultra sound on my belly and same thing? Just the sac with nothing in it? She ordered another ultra sound for me in two hours with a specialist. So DH and i are sitting here wondering what this can mean?

Help please? is there still a chance or is this a mc?:cry:

Did the doctor tell you anything else? I have no idea what that means...

Good luck though and let us know how it goes!

This happened to me in Jan. 10 weeks I started spotting went in doctor did the outer scan found nothing then we did a vagina scan and only the sac. This is what they called a missed miscarriage and a blighted ovum. There was never a baby there (cells stopped spliting very early on). Usually this is a one time thing for a woman and a 2nd one is a major fluke. Sorry that I'm bringing you bad news *hugs*

Oh Dear I'm not sure I can offer much advice on this- never experienced it myself. Is there any chance you could be earlier than you think?? I saw my baby on ultrasound scan at 6 weeks xxx

so it can be a mc even if i am still getting positive pregnancy tests? Even if i am earlier than i thought, i would be at least 9 weeks and they would be able to find it. I will know in and hour i guess. I just started developing symptoms this week too? The nausea and headaches just started? If i miscarried would i still have all these symptoms?

Yes it can still be a mc it's called the "missed miscarriage" your body doesn't recognize it as a mc yet and continues to 'think' you are pregnant. Yes you can still have symptoms up until your body realizes you have mc. And at 9 weeks they should see something.

I hope you are earlier than you think but it is not a good sign if they see no baby at 9 weeks - you should have a clear picture with a heartbeat at 6 or 7 weeks. I had the same with my very first pregnancy, I was 8 weeks but when they scanned me they only saw a sac and unfortunately I miscarried. I can only offer hope that you are earlier or maybe the sonographer will find it xxxx

I have absolutely no experience with this but I am thinking of you and hoping everything is okay...maybe reaaaaaaaaally funky dates? And if it's not okay, I will send you the best vibes. Waiting is so hard.:(:hugs:

I have no experience of this and can't imagine what your going through. I hope there has been some mistake xxx

Good luck with the second ultrasound and keep us updated. Hope everything is ok and very big hugs to you.

My thoughts are with you. I am in a very similar situation, and I'm getting an ultrasound tomorrow to recheck. My advice is to wait and wait and wait... There are so many stories of women who just can't see their babies for whatever reason (tilted uterus especially), and then a week later there it is!

Sorry to hear about this :/ Doens't sound good. I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and could see the baby

i really hope you get to see your punkin at this second ultrasound :hugs:

although i do want to tell you that with my last pregnancy i was 11w and discovered i had a missed miscarriage. our baby had passed a week prior (two days after i had last seen baby k and he heartbet) and i still had every single symptom just weaker. ill tell you it was really hard but we know it happened for a reason beyond our control. im going to pray for you and hope you see your little one :hugs:

Fingers crossed! Let us know if everything is ok, if you can!

Hi, I just wanted to say, I've been going through this exact nightmare for several weeks but with the added threat of ectopic pregnancy as my hcg levels continued to rise. It's called a missed miscarriage/blighted ovum.

I suspected something was wrong with my pregnancy very early (around 6 weeks) and went for an early scan at 7 weeks, lets just say having been pregnant twice before i felt very different, intuition i guess and i also felt depressed which isnt usual for me. I then had two more scans spaced out over next few weeks with no change to the sac but increasing hcg. Your body (sac and placenta) carries on working and thinks its still pregnant and that the baby is there. It's a cruel scenario.

Today (9 weeks) I had a D&C and laparoscopy (to rule out ectopic) its been awful so I totally sympathise with how you are feeling. I chose D&C because I heard that its very hard for some women's bodies to let go and miscarry naturally plus I wanted closure after the weeks of torture and preying and hoping my baby would be found. The op was fine although I was very scared beforehand.

I'm just hoping things will start to get better from here.

My story is here if you want to read it: https://babyandbump.momtastic.com/p...regnant-empty-sac-hcg-13-000-please-read.html

Please get in touch if you want to ask anything. And Im sorry you're in this situation, it really isnt fair. Xxx

I hope this is not the case, but I ha a blighted ovum found at 13 weeks, no baby just. Sac. My uteru had grown, I had all kinds of symptoms, yet the baby did not developed. I had a D&C and conceived my first son a month later.

If you're sure of your dates, then it would be a blighted ovum. They should definitely see a baby by 10 weeks (even at 6 we saw our 2nd).
