My DD is nearly 13-months old. She's never been good with taking bottles (she would only take one from 2 people) but since last month she has point blank refused to take a bottle from anyone. So we've tried giving her EBM in a sippy cup/beaker and a 'normal' cup but she won't drink it either (she did once, but only when I was the one giving it to her).

Since this time she has also started waking up every 3 hours at night to nurse (I posted about this on another thread in another group, asking for advice on getting her to STTN) and nothing else will get her back to sleep.

She goes to a child minder 3 days a week and used to take a 4-oz bottle but now she just drinks water anytime I'm away from her. Any advice on getting her to take the ebm in a cup, or while I'm not there?

Thanks :flower:

I don't have any advice, but since she is getting BM directly from you at night, does she need it during the day at the childminders? How is her solids intake?

My son transitioned to mostly water with the childminders around 15 to 16 months I think, but because I quit making as much milk. Definitely all water during the day by 18 months. I know he was a bit older, but he was a preemie so he's been a bit slow to do everything food-wise.

My LO never took any bottles or cups of milk (not expressed, formula or cows) once she was at daycare aged 1yr. She just increased her food intake and we had a big morning breastfeed, one when I collected her and one just before bed.

However my child had always woken at least once at night so I wasn't concerned about her still doing it and fed her back to sleep whenever necessary.

I'd just give water and milk (or whatever your preference for that is eg nut milks etc) and food in the day and squeeze in bf at wake up, pick up and bed time.

Thanks ladies :flower:

I just think that her not taking EBM and her waking up at night might be connected... so I was hoping that by getting her to drink more milk during the day she would maybe not wake as often at night.

She gets only water at the moment to drink, and on days that I'm at work bf in the morning and before bedtime, then whenever she wakes at night (currently 3 - 4 times!).

She's on 3 full meals and 2 snacks so I'm not really worried about her food intake... but I also have milk saved in the freezer (and what I pump while at work) and am wondering how I can get her to take this...

Thanks again for the responses!
