12 week scan skull not fused ?

This isn't about me but a friend of mine has just been to her 12 week scan and they have said they are very concerned about her babies skull and that it appears that it hasn't fused/developed properly leaving some of the brain exposed. I am absolutely devastated for her and I don't know how to support her, is this a problem that is likely fatal or something that can get better or can be misdiagnosed ? I just don't want to try and keep her positive if heartache is inevitable

Honey, if it was a good scan, the possibility is big that the outcome for the baby is not good. They will send her for more scans though, most probably, before making big decisions. Good luck. And remember if she starts to not want to see you, that is normal too, she might be hurting to see you pregnant with a healthy baby. You sound like a good friend xxx
