Hi all,

I'm 12w&2d and suddenly got a bit of bleeding today at work when I went to the toilet. I panicked and was taken to hospital to get checked out. All my obs are fine and I've had no cramping, and when I went to the toilet there was no blood there. The doctor did say I have got a urine infection and a temperature and has discharged me with some antibiotics. I've come home, gone to the toilet and I'm bleeding again. It's like a dark reddish colour. This is my first pregnancy and I've only just told people. I have a emergency scan tomorrow but it seems so far away - I'm so scared I don't know what to do with myself and I'm don't want to go to the toilet incase the worst is happening :'(

Hi, I'm sorry you're having a horrible time :hugs: have you had a scan yet and seen the baby's hb? If you have had your 12 week scan, while the worst is not impossible, it's a LOT less likely so try not to worry too much.

I have read many stories of bleeding episodes that have a happy outcome and a variety of causes. I'm not sure about what sort of bleeding a uti could cause, but I hope you get some answers ASAP! Big big hugs and keep us updated xxxxxxxxx

Hi I know how hard this is, but try to stay positive, it may be nothing. It's common to bleed/spot during pregnancy, I think 1/4 of pregnant women experience it. As long as you aren't having really bad cramps and bright red bleeding it should be ok.

I just had this last week and it is from a low lying placenta. All of my bloods came back perfect and we were given a scan and saw a strong HB and baby flipping around. I just had another scan yesterday to see if it has moved [it hasn't] and everything is still great with the baby.

My placenta is very close to my cervix and so that's why the bleeding started and even was reddish. I also had cramping but it was minor. I was put on bed rest for a week and am on pelvic rest until it has moved. They said this is common early on and 90% of placenta previa will resolve on it's own.

Go demand a scan!
