This has been worrying be for a while as I am not sure how common it is but Max is just over 14 months old and still does not have one single tooth yet! He has 2 little white bumps under his gum on where his front bottom teeth should be but they have been there for quite a while and are not showing any sign of breaking through.

Does anyone know if this is normal? I was going to make an appointment to see the GP but I didn't want to sound like an idiot iykwim?

It's normal Hun. A member posted here about her son who had his 1st tooth at 15 months.

I found the thread for you :)

Omar had his 1st teeth (3 on the same day) 1 week after his 1st birthday zx

Normal from what I've heard... & I ask all the mums I meet about teeth!! Dd got her bottom 2 at 10mths & nothing since. Her top ones (all 4!) are just under the surface - I can see the white marks & bumps!! I was convinced she was going to get 6 teeth at once about 6 weeks ago, but nothing!

I am frustrated by it - but I try to convince myself that by the time her painful molars are coming through she might be old enough to simply tell me her teeth hurt rather than just be very upset by it. At this rate she'll be 8 when she gets a full set of teeth so she should be able to tell me :haha:

I'm not hugely patient by nature so it pains me to say you just have to wait for it to happen

^^ I like that idea! Also, the dentist told us that he'll likely have less cavities.

I found that teething when they are older is worse than when they're babies :(

Omar goes off food every time he starts teething. When he was still on bottles he used to drink milk only but ti's not enough for a toddler as they need other food groups. We were done with all the 16 teeth at 23.5 months!

Now he's teething again, he's off food, he tells me that his teeth hurt, but it doesn't change a thing, he's so whiney, he wakes up at night for water, his sleep is disturbed & the worst is the mood swings all day. He still have 3 molars missing

Leanna is 18 months old on Monday and only has 5... We are working on number 6 and I can now see another top one on the way as well
She wont let me look or feel at the back and the bottom stay hidden until the end so no idea whats going on there

So it is more common than I thought? I mentioned it to my sister and she frightened the life out of me - she said if they don't have them by a certain age then they may need their gums sliced open to allow the teeth to push through.

Thanks so much for your replies ladies, its the first time I have posted in this section so I really appreciate it.

My ds is 15 months and we have 4 at the top, 2 at the front bottom, and then a massive gap and 1 back molar!! How random is that! I thought they started at the front and made their way outwards to the molars, but obviously not!!

Omar had his 2 side bottom teeth at 23.5 months after he had his 4 molars & 4 canines. He had his 4 molars at around 16 months, his canines at 22.5-23 months, then his 2 side bottom teeth started to cut through at 23.5 months xx

Yep - That was my thread.
Daniel was indeed just over 15 months when he first got teeth.
He is 22 months now and has his 4 front top teeth, 4 molars, and his bottom 2 front teeth.
We think his fangs are just starting to come through now!!
