So I want to talk with women who have been trying for 14 months+. We really need a group to discuss our ups and down, as well as our triumphs. How do you continue to go on? Im at a crossroads here. Im in such anguish. I feel I have tried everything on our own. OPKs, charting, guanefisn, metformin, softcups, clomid, and basically standing on my head:shrug:! We've done all the testing and etc. Our next step is IUI but why try that when I havent heard of too many BFPS with it?

Im so discouraged so I dont know what to do? What should I call this group? What is this place that Im at? I need you alls help.

Hi MrsKC, nice to see you again!
I'm up to my 16th month now and starting IVF next month.
The thing that's been most helpful to me is knowing exactly where I'm going next, at every step along the way. Do this test and that test on those dates, try clomid, if that doesn't work after however many cycles, then move to IVF.
Obviously IVF is where we've ended up, but that's OK too. I'm just so relieved we have a proper diagnosis now.
Depending on what your issue is, I would definitely consider IUI. Have you got a good doctor?

Hello hun!

Yes she is awesome. She wanted us to do IUI the first month we met her because DH's morphology was low and that was August 2009. We wanted to wait and try on our own some more. So she gave us clomid + metformin for my PCOS. Well here we are months later with another AF a day or so ago. I think we will do the IUI, as it probably gives us some better odds. How much is IVF where you are if you dont mind me asking? Im not sure if I can afford it here.

Hi MrsK! I have been trying for 18 months! I can't believe it's been that long already.
I have PCOS as well and did 4 cycles of clomid alone last year with my ob/gyn, but I didn't even ovulate on it. I got referred to a RE in February and we did all the labs and tests, and I got started on Actoplusmet ( a combination of Actos and metformin) last month. Re wants me on it for 3 months to sort out my hormones before trying clomid again ( that is if no bfp by the end of 3 months).

I'm trying to take my mind off this whole ttc for the next 3 months, but it's damn too hard to do! :(

Hey MrsK!

We're on 30+ months and we also have low morphology.... we weren't even offered clomid or IUI because we only have 5% normal forms ( i.e 5% morphology). FS said it is not impossible to concieve with that, but it could take 2 mnths - it could take 10 years....only God knows! So after 30 months in the game we decided to go down the IVF route!

Hope your journey is short!!!!

Hiya hun,

16th cycle for us :flow:

FS appointments in May
All we know so far is that my 'routine' bloods were fine.
Pretty sure I ovulate, regular cycles, charting and OPKs seem to show it also.

Hopefully have more answers or a :bfp: by the end of the month if not June :)

Check out this thread, it's very hopeful for us looking to do IUI's https://www.babyandbump.com/problems-trying-conceive/253805-can-anyone-shed-some-light-iui-odds.html

hi ladies i'm on 15th month of TTC so far

had regular blood tests which show progesterone defiency due to anovulatory cycles
amenorhea due to anovulatory cycles
had US for PCOS and was negative
bloods showed hormone imbalance
tried 3 cycles of clomid and didn't work didn't even see AF
no need for SA as OH has 2 sons proven to be his by dna tests
i'm currently on 4th GP as other 3 blamed my weight
i have blood tests every 2 weeks
tried agnus castus, clomid, evening primrose, cough medicine, softcups, relaxing, legs in the air BD every other night, temping, opk's (that never get any darker)

no idea whats next as gyno said clomid would work for sure how wrong was he .... i'm calling the GP in the morning to test for isulin resistance as i have symptoms of PCOS but no cysts and negative results evry time and heard PCOS is very close to issulin resistance xx

DH and I started trying in 7/05, so I guess we tried for about 30 months before we got lucky. We did three rounds of IUI (intrauterine insemination), they never said anything about DH's morphology then. That ended in an ectopic and I just had to take a break. We were still trying, but decided to move on to adoption. That also fell through, so we took some time while I wrote my dissertation and moved for my post-doctoral fellowship. Luckily my insurance covers IVF, and the clinics here in DC are much better than back in Missouri, so we went in and got lucky on our first IVF round.

What helped me most going through all of this was to go to counseling. Just having someone who was unbiased to talk to about things, like the guilt I felt, and how I had somehow done something to deserve this, was such a great relief for me. I also made sure I had some other hobbies, like cross-stitching or crocheting, to help take my mind off stuff when it just got to intense.

Sorry to ramble so much, hope something in this mess helps out!

Oh wow, never heard of Actoplusmet...cool. They have so much out here. I take metformin extended release + clomid. I too had months where I didnt O on clomid. Once I started taking metformin, I ovulate every single month for about 7-8 months now. So i think the combo will be a great thing for you and you may very well get BFP with it!:hugs:

Wow, 5% and they wont offer you IUI? My DH had 2-3% and that was the very first thing they offered me. We declined initially but are now taking that route. I surely wish you the best with the IVF! I dont know if we would be able to afford that, so going to try on our own again if no success with at least 2 IUI's. Just prayer and more prayer!:hugs:

Can I suggest using the OPKs with the smiley faces by clearblue easy? They are a bit more accurate than the ones where you have to decipher the lines. I dont know why they dont make OPKs easier to read anyway. It should be as simple as yes or no. Maybe Ill create those:haha:
Yes very close to insulin resistance. DOnt stop until you get the help that you need!:hugs:

:happydance:Congrats!

Im afraid that after IUI if we dont conceive, what happens next when we cant afford IVF? My insurance wont even cover IUI, and I work as a teacher for a major school system:shrug:. Can I ask the round about cost for your IVF? Also can I ask which insurance do you have? Its such a blessing to have insurance that covers these things. I may even cancel my insurance and just privately pay for my families insurance. It seems the ones that we get through my company are always expensive but I still come out of pocket for a lot, so its a though what am I paying for every 2 weeks???

Hi Mrskc, you sound like you have been through the wringer! Dh and I are coming up on 3 years trying, and if I don't get a bfp by then I think I will go nuts! There's no way we will ever be able to afford IVF...Thats why we made a groups over in the ttc buddies for those of us who don't have the option (and hopes) for IVF. I have done clomid in the past but failed. After I get my HSG I am going to ask my doctor about other kinds of medication, since I'm pretty sure I'm O'ing.. just not catching the egg! Being unexplained can be so heartbreaking sometimes...I wish it were more simple.

i've been having the blood tests for a while now to check progesterone levels and they never seem to get any higher than 2.2 so no matter what opk's i use i just don't feel i will ovulate xx

We've been ttc #1 since March 2007. I was 33 when we started and I'll be 37 this year! We've tried at least 25 cycles over those 3 years. We're unexplained - DH's SA was fine, I ovulate on my own, have regular cycles and HSG showed two clear tubes. I agree being unexplained is heartbreaking - you just know something isn't right, but can't pinpoint it.

I tried clomid for the first time last month & I'm scheduled to start the second round today. I may add IUI with clomid next month if this one doesn't work.

Mothers Day is this Sunday and I'm sure that makes it worse for me. I'm feeling particularly low today, so apologies if that comes through here! I am just so tired of ttc failures - it's the most fundamental thing in life & I can't seem to do it.

I really am usually more positive than this - sorry!

Hmm it sounds like you need metformin or maybe try Femara? Some women have good results with that. It makes you ovulate with less side effects than clomid.

I definitely understand where you are at. What dosage of clomid are you on? I start my millionth round today. I am 100mgs this month. Praying for you hun, I too know its very disheartening!:hugs:
