16 month old hates travel cot?

We are off on our holibobs soon but have no clue what to do about sleeping arrangments. DD doesnt sleep in the travel cot she just stands up and crys and gets hysterical. Which to be fair I dont blame her as it doesnt look that comfy. We are having a few sleep issues anyway at the mo and its taking her a while to self settle even in her own cot.
We cant really have her in with us as the beds not big enough and she wriggles and tends to poke me in the eyes for some reason, nice! Lol
We dont feel comfortable leaving her to cry for a bit as well because of a few reasons but we will be in a caravan and she has the loudest cry known to man... im not even joking lol

What do you do? it just feels like such a faff sometimes. Holidays are meant to be fun

great British bed bumper. It's a foam wedge stop the falling out of bed. I'd use that in a single bed. When we go away bed time is a nightmare and he may have to drop off on our bed or sofa then we move him. He was in a single bed from 15 mo tho so maybe a bit more used to it. Reason we had to is he hated travel cot too and in his normal cot bed he wold climb out

When we went to centre parcs November it was our first time realising he hate the travel cot. He ended up on the huge sofa thing with cushion on the floor too. He was so comfy never fell off deity wriggling. Now I just take the wedges and don't bother with the travel cot x

How about a ready bed? It's like a blow-up bed with a built in duvet.

Eva would never sleep in her travel cot at home or at families' houses, but she slept absolutely fine in it on holidays. But then we weren't in a caravan. I think I would either do exactly the same routine you do at bedtime at home, and just insist despite the crying, or let her have a break from normal bedtime while she is on holidays and just let her conk out when tired, then transfer her once sleeping.

I usually have to hold DS2 until he falls asleep, long enough that he's in a deep sleep, and then gently place in pack n play when we are away from home. He does the same with screaming, as he knows its not his bed and doesn't want to sleep in it. It usually ends up being later than his normal bedtime too, as he fights going to sleep away from home.

Thanks will look into the wedges and ready bed. Cant help but think she will be free to roam. That seems scary haha it has to happen sometime I suppose.

Cant believe you can hold your ds til he falls asleep haha that sounds lovely.
Wish I could do that with dd she just wouldnt get comfy as shes a fidget bottom like her mum!

Maybe you could keep her in your bed till she's asleep then move her to her cot- or whatever bed you bring along? Just a thought.

Hopefully you find a bed she's more comfortable in though

Does your travel cot have a proper materress?
Personally I think ready beds are rubbish, we bought one and it was way too small for our tiny toddler. Ended up buying a single air bed that worked loads better.

We had a crap one which LO hated and when we invested in a more luxurious version, she was happy.

No advice here as we co-sleep and even manage to co-sleep on a small bed when we stay at my in-laws, but it might help to know that they're supposed to have sleep difficulties at this age. The last wonder week (from the book) begins at about 16 and a half months!
