16 Wk Appt

I have my 16 week appointment on Monday. Not really sure what they're going to do. I know they'll tell me my glucose test results and probably search around for the HB (which I hear every night). I am REALLY hoping for an ultrasound, but they said my next one wasn't until 20 weeks. My only other scan was at 8wks+3 so I'm wondering if I BEG if they can do a quick one. It would be SO nice to be able to make copies for our families so they can have pictures that actually LOOK like a baby and not a blob (even if it is the cutest blob ever!). Any ideas on how I can maybe convince them to do a quickie scan?

I know a lot of the time they wont do it unless necessary, until the 20 weeks. Most insurance companies wont pay for them otherwise. Besides you only have four weeks to go!! (Sounds like forever, huh?)

Just wait until you get past your 20 weeks ultrasound, you have to go another 20 weeks until you see your baby with no more ultrasounds or anything!

I have a few prego problems but they still didn't scan me again until 20 weeks (other scans at 5, 6, 7 weeks)because as long as they can use the doppler to detect the heart rate and the heart rate is fine they just figure everything with baby is OK. I'm not sure how long it takes to get in to private scans but maybe you could call around and have one done?? Anyways, I hope you have a wonderful 16 week appointment hun!!

i was only given my blood results at 16wks mw didnt even check me over

I had LOADS of problems in the first tri and I still havn't had a scan since 12WK

Hmm..it's not looking hopeful. Crud. Well..it's only another 4 weeks, but that seems like an eternity

if they cant find the HB by doppler, they may do an u/s to find the hb. It's not a "full" U/S, but it *is* one, and that's how I got my 14+4 pictures

Thanks. They can definietly find the HB w/o a problem. It takes us about 5 seconds every night to find it. Thanks again though!

Well, the appt. went pretty well. I've lost more weight (totaling 25lbs now), so the dr yelled at me..I'm not TRYING to loose weight, it's just happening, I'm overweight anyway, so I don't see what the big deal is! I TOTALLY didn't like the dr I saw today though. He didn't believe be when I told him what side the baby was on and he said there was no way I could know that. Funny how he tried to find the HB and it was right where I said it would be, not where HE thought it would be. They wanted me to go for a quad-screening, but we declined. He did manage to prescribe antibiotics for my pneumonia though, thankfully. There wasn't even an US machine in the room I was in, so I couldn't even ask. Nor did I discuss my depression with him...he wouldn't have listened. My sexing scan is on Jan 23..I can't wait! Thank goodness I don't have to see that doc again though.
