My son is 18 months old. He used to be a great eater and would eat anything put infront of him. Fruit, veg, pasta, meat, salad etcetc EVERYTHING! Now for the last month or so his eating has got absolutly rubbish! He won't eat his breakfast, I've tried him with all diff cereal, toast, yogurt, fruit, pancakes, the lot he just refuses. He then goes in the cupboard pulling out crisps and get upset when I won't allow him to eat them. I try making him food again which he again refuses. So I figure he musnt be hungry so I then feel guilty wondering have I left him hungry. Then at lunch he picks at food from his plate before throwing it around or leaving the table! He then looks for biscuits, crisps, junkfood! Which I hate him eating but my mum and oh give him it even though I ask them not too. Same at tea and he very rarely eats supper now.

He drinks a lot of water and juice through the day.

Should I be worried?? I cannot make him eat more than a few mouthfuls of foods and a banana a day without giving him 'junk'.

I think the reason I'm so worried is because he used to be such a great eater!!

Daisy is 21 months now but since about 17-18 months she has also been much more fussy with her food so maybe its just something they go through. Before she was 18 months she'd eat anything and had never turned down anything I'd offered her but from 17-18 months onwards I have to be much more creative to get her 5 a day into her!

My LO is only 15 months but has also developed a liking for junk. She will eat bread and cheese till the cows come home but anything green on her plate, she just ignores! My response is to ignore it and not worry. For her meals, she gets what oh and I eat. If she doesn't eat it, I figure she's just not that hungry. She has the occasional treat likechocolate and LoVES it.

They will start eating again when They'r ready. Omar went through those phase ssince his birthday. He was teething non stop & it affected his eating. he went through a phas eor eating yoghurt & cheese only for 3 months, then last months it was baby cereals & plain yoghurt. For the past week he started to ask for food & he's trying new food without a fuss. He finally got all his teeth. I used to cook what he likes only but he he refuses to eat I didn't offer him unhealthy alternative, he will get plain yoghurt & cereals only. I gave him a happy meal once a week during this phase but that was the only junk he got & it was the chicken nuggets without the fries.

I also stick to toddler milk for the extra vits & I give him a multi vit when he goes through fussy phases xx
