1st period after giving birth

hi ladies,

i remember during my 1st bleed after giving birth, the mid wife kept asking if i was loosing clots in the bleed, i wasnt so i wasnt worried. however i was due my period this week but with it being xmas week, i took my pill through so not to be on for christmas, bhowever i am still experiencing my 1st period. i figure this must be my bodies way of tellin me i need to have one, however i have noticed alot of clots. is this a worry??? please advise. i have heard this can mean that your body didnt get rid of all the placenta? my little Ella has her 1st jabs on mond and i see the doc too to talk about contraception so should i bring it up then?
