1st visit to the docs... Ahhh!

When me & OH went to the docs a few month ago because we had hit the 12month mark ttc, the doc didnt really say/do much, OH had to do a fertility test, he brought the stuff home an then he had to do it, an take it upto the hospital etc.. an im still waiting to had bloods done, this is my 2nd month at trying to get it right.. but im not sure what happens after that, depends what urs & ur OH's results are. :)

when i whent to doctors he took blood and after they came back fine and still no joy a scan. mine wernt that helpfull:growlmad: but hopfully urs will be! i got told to keep trying and it should happen! that was nearly 4 years ago! i think it depends on age and past history in that department! good luck x:thumbup:

Hi Steph. How did it go?

I had long irregular cycles (not as long as yours though) and thats usually due to PCOS. They can give you drugs to try and help fix it. I'm now on a 30 day cycle.

Good luck!

MillieMoo the appoitment is on Friday but ill post up how it go's :D

Im hoping mine will be something simple that can be fixed with drugs... fingers crossed!! :D :D

What are you on and how long did you take to regulate if you don't mind me asking?

xx

Hi hun,
Our doctor was great, I had the blood tests done to see if I was ovulating and my oh had two SA. Thats the first stage. If your cycles are long I would expect you will be asked to have your bloods done.
Good luck!

Hi hun,

I think it depends on the doctor to be honest, mine was really good and when I told her that I wanted to TTC but hadn't had a period in nearly a year she took bloods straight away. These confirmed a few hormone problems that are linked with PCOS so she then referred me to hospital for an ultrasound - about 4 weeks later I had my ultrasound, then got results 10 days later. I definitely have PCOS.

She then referred me to a gynecologist, had to wait another 5 weeks ish for an appointment who has prescribed me Metformin to hopefully sort out my testostorone/insulin levels and help me lose a bit of weight whilst i'm at it. I only saw her last night, so not sure how effective it is yet though :p

Here's hoping :D

Hope your appt went well today
I think I'm going to head to the doctor soon. Been trying for just over a year (about 14 months??). I just want to get this month out of the way, as it's going to be stressful enough without adding to it.
Hope you have had some answers today
xx

Keep us updated hun, and good luck with everything :) Hope you can find out what (if anything) is the problem and resolve it quickly so you can get your BFP! :)

Hi, Pleased all went well with the Docs. I had my 1st app recently and I was the same as you didnt know what to expect etc.

He was fantastic - said that He'd refer us straight away (have been ttc for over a year but I had a birst fallopian tube in 1995 and an ectopic in 2007 - so I also have history)

Said I'd need bloods, smear, ultrasound and OH SA before appointment would come through - had bloods done Wed (14th) went for smear today - BLOOD RESULTS BACK ALREADY!!! and I AM OVULATING WOOP WOOP - so that was good news

and my ultrasound appointment arrived for Thursday 22nd - I couldnt believe how quick it is - oh appart from the fact that we'll have to wait up to 6 months to see the specialist and our nearest fertility hosp is over 100 miles away.

But it's a start - and at last we can start - so fingers crossed for you and hope you get things sorted.

I know what you means about wishing you got the ball rolling sooner. We waited until we'd been trying 2 years before we saw anyone. As my cycles were all over the place i just thought it was because i'd come off the pill (which i'd been on for 8 years). Turns out it wasn't. Never mind we've got it under control now.

I'm on Metformin and clomid at the moment. The met helps level out my hormones and the clomid makes me release a ripe egg sooner in my cycle so i'm not waiting forever! As a result i'm now oving around cd17-cd18 instead of cd33.

Let us know when you get your results back!
