I thought this was something that happened to other people and was the kind of thing I always dreamed would happen, though never expected it to actually happen to me!!!
We have recently had a second failed IVF last month which devastated me far more than the first and was taking me a while to get over. Had the follow up at the fetility clinic last friday and the consultant was writing to my GP and PCT to reccomend they waive the 6 month wait for the last funded cycle as I had such poor response to stimulation and poor quality eggs. We got 3 eggs first time round with 1 fertilise and 6 eggs the second with 4 fertilise.
I had a 16 day cycle straight after the IVF and mentioned it to the consultant who said he would expect my cycles to get shorter as a sign than my egg reserves were diminishing. It was also relatively light in comparison to normal but I guessed it was as the cycle was so short.
But after AF, the tenderness in my boobs didnt go and by day 11 I was getting cramps as if AF was due again. I was really upset that this last IVF seemed to have really messed my hormones and cycles but something posessed me to do a pregnancy test just to rule that out before I went wallowing in self pity for my messed up ovaries.
... and there was a faint line. I had to look twice! The test was out of date but I burst back into the bedroom and told hubby in a state of shock, confusion and disbelief. I though I was on day 11 so how on earth was I pregnant? I dug out the remaining clear blue test that came as a pack of 2 that the clinic said I had to use to test after IVF. It was positive too!!!
That was on sunday and this week I have been to the doctors and had two beta's done to confirm it is a continuing pregnancy and not something left over from the IVf that didnt pick up on testing day. Yesterday they confirmed all is ok and my beta's were 479 and 625. I can only think that the bleed was implantation? I am over the moon!!!
I hope this gives a little hope to those who have been trying for a while. miracles can happen xxxxx
