i already have a single medela swing pump which has been working out great, however it looks like im going to be exclusively expressing so wondering whether just buying another single pump ansd using them at the same time will be the same as using a double or shall i splash out on the double?
thank you :flower:

Your question is insteresting but I rarely use one. I think one single pump is enuf. By the way, my right hand is a better single pump.

For EPing you must pump both sides at the same time to keep your supply. You *could* do it with a single but you'd be there all flipping day.

I think for simplicity a double pump would be easier...two motors means more electricals to go wrong, and if you wanted to be mobile while pumping (if your pump takes batteries), it'd be easier with only one motor. If that's not a consideration you could perhaps get away with 2 singles, if you have somewhere with 2 sockets etc to plug in?

You could maybe keep the single as an emergency backup in case anything happens to the double (I did this - bought a single while pregnant, assuming I'd just pump the odd feed, then ended up pumping for a year, so bought a double as well, and good job I kept the single because the double conked out at ~7 months and it was a few days before I could get another). I also had a manual pump for once DD was mobile - helped me get in my 2 hours by doing quick 5-10 minute pumps of one side here and there while chasing about after her, and there was no tubing for her little grabby hands either!
