2 white spots on lower gum

My little girl has been very grumpy today (although thats not necessarily new for her) but she has been screaming and very distressed on and off. I was wondering if she was constipated because she hasn't emptied her bowels since sunday and shes red faced straining every now and then. The thing is when she was screaming earlier, I noticed 2 white dots on her lower gum, which I thought looked like the beginning of teeth emerging. But shes only 5 and half weeks, it can't actually be her teeth coming through can it? Its way too early, surely If not, then what are the white dots, is it normal?

Some babies are born with teeth, so your LO could very well be getting some.

Babies can actually be born with teeth so its possible.Also the little white lumps can be there for quite a while before the teeth break through.My son got his first 2 teeth at 13 weeks.

My son had those white lumps at 9 weeks-but his teeth seemed to disappear and reappear in the top of his gums from one week to the next and he only just has one pretty much fully through, and one visible but not poked through now; and he is 9.5 months xx

Some babies can even be born with teeth.. Are her gums rounded, or are they still more flat looking?
Did you check out all of her mouth? Those white spots couldnt be thrush, could it?
If her mouth is clean, then it sounds like teeth!
Poor babe.. Hopefully these ones coming through will give her a break for a while until the next pair.

I noticed excatly the same today 2 white spots and my baby has been screaming the last 2days, wont let me put him down and smoothing so hard on anything and drinking so much, could it really but teeth, he is only 3weeks old !!!

Mine has been teething since she was one and a half - two months old. She's now 6 months, and still no teeth coming through yet lol.

Summer rain - is that how teething works then, does it really take so long for the teeth to come through. Was your son showing signs of distress from the teeth from 9 weeks or were they painless in the early days?

Aberrance - I don't think its thrush, I didn't notice any other patches, but I'll have a more thorough check when she wakes up. I didn't notice the gums being rounded either but I'll try and get a better look at them if she'll let me

How do you know shes teething then, if the teeth haven't come through, are there other signs which indicate teething is happening. Has your baby been showing signs of pain and distress all that time?

With Bella, she usually shows signs of teething for a month or two before they break through the gums. Lots of drooling, painful cries, fists in mouth, sometimes she gets a diaper rash or a fever along with it. My bunny has 8 teeth and is currently cutting her first molars on the top, so she'll soon have 10

Flynn has a couple of little White spots on his gums I thought it might be teething so I asked the hv when he got weighed today she said they were little blisters from sucking and were really common.

My Lo is constantly trying to get her fists in her mouth and appears to be chewing on them but then shes been doing that more or less since birth. Shes also felt a bit on the warm side today but I don't know if I'd call it a fever. No drooling though. Is drooling a definate sign of teething?

Blisters sound painful too, did the health visitor mention if they would be painful for the baby?

She didn't say painful just that they were normal and might be uncomfortable.

You can see it. The exact shape of a tooth, and whitish THRU her gum...like in the front. It has moved up, but just hasn't cut yet. She's been soaking herself with drool for months upon months, acts like she's in pain/upset off and on for months. And she chews on EVERYTHING. She had a sharp little 'nub' on the top of her gum for about 3 days, then it disappeared again.

My LO had White spots on his gums, I asked the GP as I thought it was thrush. He said it's really common and they ate blocked saliva glands, like a tiny absess. He said that as the teeth move around underneath the gum surface the pressure can cause the blockages and they will clear up in their own. No need to worry unless they are huge and causing LO pain. Xxx
