20 week scan at 11am. 6 hours sleep and I can feel the panic starting to set in. :(

I did the same thing at my 12 week scan but this time feels even worse because its my anomaly scan. I was looking forward to seeing my baby again and quite excited about it until now but all I feel now is worry and complete panic.

I try not to but because Im nearly 39 and this is my first (and probably last) baby I am terrified that something is wrong.

My midwife keeps telling me that age is not as much of an issue as its made out to be but it still worries me.

How exciting! I understand the panic. My 20 week isnt for another 4 weeks but when i think about it i worry about the outcome. I dont care about the gender, i just want to know my avocado is doing well in there. Just one of the 'joys' if pregnancy! I am positive all will be well with your canatloupe and you'll come out a happy lady. Post a piccie when you can! x

Hey hun I know exactly what you mean. I am also 39 and i am worrying over every little thing, i have started to worry about my 16wk scan and it's not for another 2wks. I am sure everything is going to be just fine, go and enjoy seeing you LO again xx.

Hey Hun, I had my anomaly scan on Tuesday and was friggin terrified! I couldn't really enjoy it as the right at the beginning she took ages looking at the heart, said she was struggling to see all 4 chambers clearly! But it's was just because baby was bouncing of the Walls of my uterus, she wouldn't lie still!

I'm sure everything will be fine at your scan.... Do you know the gender, are you gonna find out??

At my 12 week scan I was in tears before I even saw the baby just from pure fear of something being wrong. I reckon I will be the same this time. My OH has to look at the screen to see if he can see the heart beating before I will open my eyes.

Jeez, you must have been so worried! So glad that everything was fine for you and your little one. Thats brilliant news. xxx

I had mine on Thursday and I was absolutely terrified. My OH couldn't come coz he was working so my mum and dad came, they let both of them come in which I loved coz it's not often the grandad gets to experience that and my dad has come to 2 of my scans now. At first she said there's ur baby and heartbeat then they go quiet when they take all the measurements, well I could hardly breath, I thought something was wrong, I had a trainee doin my scan, so there was 2 and she was learning which is why it probabily took a little longer. But everything was fine and when they were checking his heart I even heard her say perfect. Didnt help that he was wriggling everywhere. You will be fine, good luck xx

Good luck! Remember to keep breathing ... the sonographer had to tell me to stop holding my breath as I was getting all tense and that was making it a bit harder for her. I'm sure everything is going to be just fine, let us know how it goes!!!

Im back and extremely relieved to say that everything was fine. The midwife did keep my feet on the ground by reminding me that just because my 20 scan is fine doesnt mean that other things cant go wrong between now and the birth. Found that a bit odd (particularly as OH told her as soon as we went in that Im a worrier!)

Anyway, she was really nice and Im so happy. Baby was upside down so the photo we got is pretty crap (cant see babys face or anything). Actually looks like a proper little alien TBH!! We are staying team yellow so only 20 weeks till we find out!

I am 37 almost 38 and pregnant with my 4th and last child and I can tell you I've panicked before each and every ultrasound so far (and I've had 7). I just get so worried and worked up....once I see the hb I'm much better and I tell them that I'm really stressed and ask them to show me right away that baby is okay!
Of course with the 20 week scan I worried all through whether or not things were alright but you can generally tell if they are having trouble seeing something. Even then when I would get stressed she explained most of the seeing problems are size/ movement of baby!!!! Good Luck!!!!
