I had my 20 week scan early but becuse of the position the baby was lying in they could only see his liitle feet,at the end of the scan they told me that his little feet were turned in ,he has a condition known as talipes or club foot.I was obviously devastated but what upsett me most was the not knowin if the rest of him was alright,I had to wait two weeks for my next scan but again because of the position he was in again it took ages, they finally got the pictures they needed and then told me that everything else looked fine.At the end of that scan i asked them to check his feet again, they confirmed he had talipes, and that it was both feet, one especially looked quite bad,but it is a fixable condition and im just thankfull the rest of him looks ok,has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Hi Sweetie, i can't offer you any info on your little ones condition but i didn't want to read and run, good luck, i'm sure he'll be just fine and gorgeous no doubt i'm certain! xx

:hugs:

sorry hun i dont know anything about your sons condition but i didnt want to read and run. xxxxxxx

Hi,

I've no personal experience, but recently i had cause to be concerned about my daughters hips. I found the charity STEPS-CHARITY which not only provides support for parents of children with hip problems but also for parents of children with conditions such as Talipes. If you google steps charity you should be able to find their web site. (make sure you add the word charity, otherwise you will just pull up loads of web sites for the pop group steps)

Take care,

Marie

I dont have experience personally but one of my best friends was born with this, she had surgery and physio when she was younger and it made a massive difference. She's 26 now, the only evidence of her problem is a flat foot which she also has which ocasionally makes her walk slightly different but only when she's not concentrating on it.

It's a completely fixable condition and your little bubs will be fine. x Good luck. x

Didn't want to read and run, but my friends daughter was born with it. Aparantely, nowadays there are new treatments available and her little daughter didn't need operations, they used little flexi casts on her feet. She is 7 now and her feet are absolutely normal

The condition is flexible, don't worry xx

Hiya love, hope your ok. Have a look online at picures after treatment! xxx

Hi,

My daughter was born last year with unilateral talipies. She is being treated by the ponsetti method which involves weekly casting for 6-8 weeks. She was put into her first cast at 10 days old.

She had a little procedure to cut her achilies tendon and then went into the boots and bar brace for 3 months for 23 hours a day. She now wears the brace for 14 hours a day and has to wear this until around the age of 5.

She has adapted really well to everything. She started crawling at 10 months and has just started to stand at nearly a year old.

Her feet are beautiful and its amazing what they can do in such a short space of time.

As someone else said, try contacting the charity STEPS. I found their website really helpful especially in the early days.

PM me if you want to chat, am happy to send pictures of Sophies treatment so you can see what goes on!

Good luck with your pregnancy:hugs:

a friend of mines little girl had this issue and they did a surgery to correct it when she was very little. she was 3 when i first met them and she was walking fine. sometimes she would turn her foot in and walk on the side out of habit i think but when her mom caught her doing that she would just tell her to walk straight and she did, I didn't notice any other kind of issues and her feet didn't look and different to me.

Thanks for all the replys,i havent sussed yet how to do PMs but am lovin the site so far,im rushing at the moment going to see my midwife!

Hi hun. A friend of mine was born with talipes. She had corrective shoes and stuff when she was older and now just has insoles to keep her feet straight - you wouldn't even notice now that anything was any different. All the best xx
