Hello Ladies! I'm wondering if anyone can share their thoughts about my hcg level. I have had many miscarriages (I carried our boy full term, using progesterone supp. for 14 wks)...so when I know I'm pregnant I get my levels tested asap. My hcg came back at 17,841 for 21 dpo (I know the exact date we conc.). I was SOOO thankful to hear such high #'s, but after doing some googling I'm finding that those #'s are VERY high. I'm waiting to get the progesterone results on monday.

I don't know if this matters or not, but I ovulated very late the last two months. It's usually around the 14th day, but the last 2 months I ov. on the 21st day. Maybe my body dropped more then 1 egg?

I'll be thrilled whether it's 1 or 3..or more =0) I'm just ready to get a phone call on monday.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Wow!! Did I read that right? 17,841? That is really really very high. How wonderful if you've got more than one blessing in there!! Congrats.

Thanks so much for your reply! Good luck to you!

When the nurse called to tell me the # she told me she was new to that area and didn't know what it meant just that she was to tell me the #. I said that it was high and I was thankful. We hung up and she called back in just a few minutes. She said she talked to another nurse and they want me to come in right away after we find out the progesterone results. Maybe they'll do a scan. I wonder if anything would show up this early?

I don't mean to scare you, but numbers that high at only 21 DPO could mean a molar pregnancy, and that's not a good thing. Not necessarily, but it's possible.

I'm sure everything is totally totally fine though. I bet they just want to make sure its not something like that.

I hope everything works out for you!

Thanks for replying. I've seen that online too. I'm believing that everything is healthy and well. I'll update when I find out more next week. This weekend has been very long.

I understand what you mean about a long weekend! I'm currently dealing with a possible ectopic, and the wait is killing me.

I cant work it out-u ovulated at cd 21,and now ur 21 dpo? Does that make it 6 weeks since ur last period? If it is,then according to the chart ur hcg is in normal limits. Here is a chart to give u a guideline https://www.pregnancyloss.info/hcg_levels.htm. If ur not 6 weeks since ur last period, i really feel u should impress on the nurses that that is a very high number (as they didnt know what it meant). And the chart takes into account multiples, which is why there is such a large variation in numbers. Please let us know how u get on xx

Hi, thanks for your post. So I ovulated on the 20th day (feb. 23) ...not the 21st like I put-my typing error. March 16th was 3 wks gestation and the 18th was 6 wks from my last period. I got the blood test on the 17th. I feel like I have to go by the gestation/days past ovulation when looking at the charts and not the last period since I ovulated so late. Even then all the charts I've looked at my levels are way higher and only in normal range when looking at the multiples charts. I will try again and look at the link you sent- I couldn't get it to open bc my computer is going slow.

I will def. find out more on monday/tuesday. We just moved (2 wks ago) from NC to ND and couldn't get scheduled in to see a good dr. at such short notice. The only one who knows about babies, etc. is on vacation and then booked up. I'm hoping we can at least do some scan to find out more. I'm thinking my progesterone will come back pretty high. When preg. w/ my son I had all the symptoms early on, but it wasn't until I started the progesterone suppositories that I started feeling REALLY bad- like I feel now.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your responses. It's nice to not be quite so alone. hugs

Those numbers are really high, but there is definatly more of a chance that its multiples or that you are further along in your pregnancy than you think. Molar pregnancies are really rare, less than 1 in 1000, whereas you have a much more likely 1 in 80 chance of having twins! Good luck xx

Pleeaasseee keep us posted!! Would be lovely to get a twins announcement! Yes, it prob doesnt make sense to go by LMP as u ov late. I really hope u get some answers tom. xx

Thanks much for your post! It's always nice hearing good stats like that. Oh and w/out giving tmi, I'm 100% sure we're not further along- there's no possible way. ha
