Hi Everyone,

I've finally plucked up the courage to start writing on these sites!! I've been trawling through various forums for weeks, and I'm going a little crazy, so thought I could do with some support :-/ So here goes...

I'm 24 years old, been on the Marvelon pill for just under 6 years. Been with my boyfriend for over 6 years, and we recently decided to start a family. We've recently got engaged too :-) My doctor started me on folic acid on 15th Oct, and I stopped my pill half way through the pack. My doctor told me to start trying asap, and not to leave any time. I had a full on period fri 19th to wed 24th. I am now 22 days late for my period. I understand it's early, as I've only been trying for 7+ weeks, but I also know that it is possible to get pregnant in the first month of trying.

I've never had a late period in my life, before taking the pill and during. I've been following an ovulation app which states I would have ovulated between 29th Oct and 2nd Nov. My period was then due 15th Nov, but currently no sign at all that it's coming.

I've taken a few tests that have shown BFN - the most recent being a clear blue on 2nd Dec (18days late). I'm going a bit mad about it all - my Mum doesn't want me to get her hopes up, so she's telling me it's just my hormones playing about. But when she had me and my 2 brothers, she never had a positive pregnancy test, as her HCG levels were so low. I know various people who had low HCG levels and never had a positive result. I've googled everything so much, so I'm aware that some people don't get positives either EVER or at least till they're half way through pregnancy in some cases!! I have an appointment with a doctor next week, so I'm hoping they'll do some tests.

I'm just concerned that if I am pregnant, what if I'm not taking care of myself enough, like eating the right foods etc.

I've had numerous symptoms, the most being:- nausea/heartburn (but not actually sick) really bad back pain low down, tiredness, emotional, urinating almost every hour or 2, a massive increase in really wet discharge (sorry TMI!!) I've been full of wind, and have stomach cramps/aches on my lower left side really low down. I could go on and on, but I think I've babbled on enough! I just want to talk to someone who has been in a similar position to me...

Please help xx

Do you know that you have FOR SURE ovulated? I got off BC a week into my cycle in September (had withdrawal bleeding like 2 days after stopping BC). My cycle from Sept to Oct was 35 days (Pre-BC it was always 28 days) October to November cycle was 33 days and I ovulated for the first time since getting off BC last weekend. Sometimes it takes a few months to start ovulating after getting off BC.

Not to discourage you, but a gf of mine didn't ovulate for 8 months after getting off BC. I tell you this so you won't get worried if it doesn't happen for a few months, and it is totally normal. You haven't ovulated for so long, so your body has to get used to ovulating by itself!

I would start using OPK's, only way you will for sure know if you are ovulating!
An ovulation app can tell you when you SHOULD ovulate, but only way you will know for sure is to pee on that little stick!

Good luck! :dust::dust:

Also, same gf that took 8 months to O, didn't get a BFP until 11 weeks! Blood test was positive, but EPT wasn't. So, there is a chance you are pregnant! Have you thought about going in and getting a blood test? Some docs won't give a blood test until you have a positive EPT, but if you are 22 days late, I would go in and ask them to do one. That way, if you are, you will know and you can start doing everything you should be doing while pregnant and if not, you won't be stressing out about it!

in no way do i want to discourage you but i wanted to share what was goin on with me as it is IDENTICAL! i always had irregular periods, was on bc for 9 yrs roughly.. i stopped taking them and didnt have a period for 2 years! this year my cycles regulated on their own and also started takin thyroid meds.. long story short my af was due nov 15th n never came.. i had 'symptoms' mostly the pinchy cramping and nausea.. along with night sweats and dizzy/faint feelings.. i had 3 bfn hpt and went to er.. i was not prego =( to my dismay but i found i had a small cyst that ruptured.. i also learned sometimes havin a cyst can cause symptoms similar to prego ones. as of today i still do not have af but am just spotting barely.. drs appt on the 21st hoping 4 some answers. i pray that you are prego!! but my advice is to get a blood test just to ease ur mind as well as getting an ultrasound to make sure u dont have any cysts that ruptured. good luck !! :hugs:

Go to the ER I know it sounds crazy but I've done it before seeing as my doc wouldn't give me a blood test because I hadn't had a positive hpt. So I went to the ER and just complained of stomach pains and bad nausea. Seeing that I wa late thy had to give me a blood test to see if I was pregnant before they could treat me. It was positive however I am back to TTC #1 again because I miscarried in June but you could always try something like the ER. Sounds crazy and obsessed I guess but that's what I did when my hpt were negative and my dr didn't do a test at the office. Just a suggestion.

I am the same as you kath22! I am 14 days late. I have very regular periods. Not been on the pill since 2 and a half years. I also have itchy/sensitive nipples. I also have the tiredness/wet discharge. I took a test today bfn! I have never missed a period before! So confused. X

Hi guys, thanks so much for your replies! I went to docs and she was so rude, told me that it was impossible for me to be pregnant if I had negative tests! She told me I might never get a period, and that there's nothing wrong with me. She told me not to bother coming back unless I have a positive! I'm now 28 days late, and my symptoms are really getting me down. I would love to be preg, but understnd that it can take ages and ages! However, I just want to know what would be causing my symptoms, cos if its something like a cyst, or thyroid problem I really want to get it sorted in case it affects my chances!! I think I'll wait until I'm 2 months late, and if I still get negative tests then I'll go to hosp! I swear if men had to go thru this, it would be SO much simpler!!

Woahhh, your doctor was very rude.. I had a male locum because my doctor was away.. I had missed my period for 3 months and because the Pregnancy test said negative.. He said if i still hadnt had a period in a year to go back?! :wacko:

Yeah! Mine turned around, rolled her eyes, and was like "Listen, you might NOT have a period. Tests these days are SO accurate that it's IMPOSSIBLE for you to be pregnant if you've haa negative result..." She spoke so slowly + patronising! Just like to say though, that pregnancy tests are 99% correct when giving a positive result, which means there's a 1% chance it's wrong. However, when showing a negative result, it's only 49% accurate, which means there's a 51% chance that its wrong! I don't want to give anyone false hope, but that's what I've read. It even say on a pregnancy test box to go see ur doc if u still don't get af!! Ahh I don't know. I really would've bet money that I'm pregnant, but after seeing my doc, I can't help but feel stupid now :(
