.

I love Sammy for a by, but prefer that spelling as Sami/Sammi seems to be the feminine spelling.

If it's for a boy then def Sammy 👍🏻

Ooh then that kind of changes my kind, in keeping with your heritage/roots I'd be more inclined to go with the traditional Swedish spelling. Xx

The spelling of Sami is easy to spell and I can't see it being mispronounced, if he has an unusual surname then it will probably compliment it well.

I think that in both Swedish and English Sami (as in the native people in the north) is pronounced more like 'Sah-mi', rather than like Sammy. So to me, they seem like two different names(?) that is probably not terribly helpful, but thought it might be something to think about/look into! Or am I totally barking up the wrong tree here...? Sammy would be pronounced 'Sammoi', in Swedish right (for lack of a better way to write it!)? But Sammi more like an English speaker would say 'Sammy'. Hmmmm...

Edit: I know a little Swede named Samuel (pronounced quiet differently to the English, obviously...) it is a cute name in both languages. You could always choose that and then have Sami/Sammy as a nickname? :flower:

Sami is such an awesome boys name, although I'm slightly biased because it's my brothers name! My dad is Arab and my mom is American, so it was a great arab-american name that they could both agree and compromise on.

My brother has never had any trouble with anyone mispronouncing his name. Sami is the more masculine spelling in my opinion, whereas Sammy seems more like a nickname for Samantha, and therefore more feminine.

Plus, I think all of his friends just call him Sam, and only family really calls him Sami.

I love it!

I definitely prefer Sami. The one I knew, his parents were Lebanese (so Arabs) and from my own family (married to an Arab) this spelling is the one that feels most masculine and "right" as a full name. Sammy seems like a nickname version of either Samantha or Samuel. Still perfectly fine though!
