i was speaking to my MW today about a possible home birth after having a awful time in hospital with my DD she said i shouldn't really have one as i'm roughly 25miles away from a hospital and apparently wouldn't get to the hospital in time if something went wrong.. it's made me very nervous if something goes wrong but i had no complications so far with this pregnancy or my previous i also had no complications during labour with DD either..

Has anyone else had a home birth that is a small distance away from a hospital? wouldn't the MW's be able to know if something was going/about to go wrong with the baby to be able to get me out in time if necessary? OH was totally in for a homebirth and now the MW has thrown him off a bit saying how risky it is being so far away from a hospital :dohh: we need reassurance if you can ladies

im 17 miles away from my hospital and about the same from the other nearest one, the MW's are well trained and should be able to handle most things at home or spot issues requring transfer in good time to get you there

i'm glad i'm not the only one a fair distance away from a hospital! my MW isn't supportive of home birth so she won't really give too much info i'm glad that a birthing MW would be able to spot any issues for a need to transfer though!
