Ladies, I'm a bit worried about my weight gain - in the first trimester I only gained 3 pounds, then in the second tri, I've gained another 21. I've been eating generally healthy, but have indulged in certain things more often than I would normally (light ice cream several times a week, some extra cookies here and there, but nothing extreme)...Is this normal weight gain? It seems to have gone entirely to my baby bump - I can still fit into my normal jeans, with the exception of buttoning them up! I just don't know...

It's normal for some people. I'm one of them. I'm normal 105 at 5 feet and an inch tall.. Very petite but when I'm pregnant, I get huge. I work out, always have and I eat healthy but I do eat ice cream just not too often.. I feel like you, I eat sweets here and there but overall healthy. Were you small to begin with? Women in my family gain a lot in pregnancy and end up thinner than they ever were after baby because of breastfeeding..

I'm the same- I have gained 22lbs so far. I asked my dr about it today and he said it was perfectly fine and I should expect to gain another 10-15.

Between weeks 16-20 I blew up, and then my weight gain leveled back out. I've gained about 31 lbs.

ive lost weight and i cant button up my jeans :-/ how frustrating! im only 15 weeks though

Im up 25 lbs and Im 21 weeks :/

Wow I feel behind everybody :(

I'm 25 weeks (ticker's off by a week, never bothered to change it) ...and I've gained... 13lbs. I think!

Unless I am wrong in what my pre-pregnancy weight was... which is entirely possible I suppose? I don't stand on scales much lol

Everyone is different in how quickly they gain. If you were quite slim to begin with you will usually find that you will gain that bit faster than others. If it's bothering you maybe cut back on the extras a little. But honestly sounds fine to me.

Everyone is really different - my friend gained 5stone in her first preg, she was only little and it turned out to be mostly water as it all went lol.

I gained heaps in my first prev, nothing so far this one - if you're eating well I wouldn't worry about the odd treat x x

Yeah, I'm about 5'5" and my "normal" weight is about 125, so I'm on the slim side. I guess maybe the weight goes on faster if you start off without very much extra! It's reassuring to know that breastfeeding will take it off! Not that it's all that noticeable (it honestly seems to be in my belly).

Anyways- thanks ladies! I's comforting to know this is normal for some...

I've gained 20lbs and I am 20 weeks so I am not doing so great... I gained 35lbs with my son. I have a new Dr this time around because my last Dr moved and I loved her!! This doctor got on to me. He reminded me "nicely" you know you can exercise??? Jerk!

lol! Well, I guess that's true - I think I will make an effort to do at least a half-hour walk daily now that the weather is getting nicer. There's no excuse not to, really...I looked up arm toning exercises last night too - it will be good to be toned when baby arrives (although the baby in itself will be toning!).

I chase a toddler once I get home lol but apparently it's not burning enough calories. I had Chick-Fil-a for lunch. Yum! I had a grilled chicken sandwich, fruit cup and a water.... Yeah I will be starving in about 2 hours!

Haha, well I walk approx 4 miles per day, 5 days a week (usually fast because I'm always late :haha:), run around after a toddler & 2 other kids, spend most of the day cooking & cleaning, haven't over indulged anymore than usual (I always have a sweet tooth & treat myself when the kids are all in bed!) & still gained 16lb in 21 weeks. So yeah your doc is a jerk!

The only way I'll stop gaining is by eating less than I would pre-preg, hate these doc's and midwives that suggest weight gain is all from pigging out & being lazy!

I am 5"5 too, and usually around 130-133, and I reckon I gained weight so fast cos I was always exercizing and dieting pre preg but cant really do that when pregnant! Plus having twins makes me gain faster than a singleton, last time round was only up around 8lbs by 20 weeks, I was only just showing and was jogging every day!! No chance of that this time round, even walking takes it outta me

I'm about your size and have gained 20+. I eat healthy and exercise frequently. I'm way overhydrated so part of it might be just water.

That makes me feel better because I drink like 80 oz of water a day....
