Would you consider this normal?

I am 27+2 and I have only gained 3lb. Well I lost 14lb at the begining due to morning sickness, which I have now been regained, but I have only gained 3lb in the last 3 months.

It is also making me worry as people keep telling me how small I am.

I have tried to contact my midwife, but only her voicemail and although the local walk in centre at the hospital were happy for me to go there. I just felt a bit of a wally if this is normal.

I'd go in hun just to make sure but i didnt have any weight gain either reli it onli started when i was ike 34 weeks im 39 now and ive put on half a stone m/w says its normal for some people, im small to i also measure 2 weeks smaller but 2 weeks bigger or smaller is ok to. Try not to worry hun

its best to go get checked but im sure everything is fine and in a weeks ur be gaining more. i gained loads at the start and now i nearing the end im gaining nothing so im the opposite but doc doesnt seem worried so im sure itl be the same ur way if u get me. but go get checked to be sure even if ony to put u at ease. xx

Got to say my weight gain was not much until after i hit 30 weeks then it just piled on...lol

XxxX

If you speak to Ann-Marie Here weight gain has been little and she is 34+ and everything is fine :) she will prob be able to reassure you more :) XXX

I'm 38 weeks and I've gained about 8lbs. Don't worry, I'm sure you're fine! :hugs:

Hiya. Ive gained just under 7lbs so far, and everythings fine. I was told a while ago that they don't bother weighing pregnant women anymore, as it doesn't really have any bearing on the health of the baby. It just means that you've lost a bit of weight. Your baby will get everything it needs from you, even if it means you going short of things. As long as you are eating healthy, you'll be fine :D

hiya

the weight thing seems to vary from person to person. from your 28 week check up they measure your fundal height anyway so from that they can observe LO's growth. The mw's have probably attached a personal growth chart in your notes 4 u that works off your weight and bmi given at booking visit. It looks like a chart with 3 lines on a raising scale for your gestation? The mw measures u from pubic bone to top of like your ribs and plot the measurement for that week. If your off the scale (below the bottom line or over the higher line) twice they'll send you for a growth scan to check LO's ok. Hope everythings ok :hugs:

I'm with Ema..... it was around 29/30 weeks when I suddenly starting gaining loads of weight... I have put a stone on since being 29 weeks to now!!! :-)

MrsP count yourself as one of us lucky ones lol, with all of mine I was a very similar weight at 40 weeks as I was at conception. I usually conceive at around a size 14 and end up in a trim 12 afterwards. Reason being I go off all the crap I usually eat due to fussy eating plus the extra work on your heart of carrying baby helps you burn the calories faster, also the baby squashing your tummy means your just not as hungry. After delivering I have to say I've never looked better lol, and get told that, BUT thats when the weight does start to go back on due to snacking because I'm tired and not having ant aversions anymore so if you can mantain your new trimmer figure then go for it.

Thank you all so much for your replies, they are very much appreciated and have been very helpful. I have mw next wednesday which will be 28 check up so maybe i'll raise it with her then and in the mean time be grateful it's only 3lb and not 3 stone, cos if it was I'm sure I'd stilll be on here moaning! lol!!! x x x x

Oh wow, you really have only gained a little.

Have you been like thazt with all of your pregnancies?

I know my mum said she ended up lighter after having me than what she started.

I'm 28 weeks and have only put on 3kg. MW says it is normal and nothing to worry about. So sit back and relax and enjoy the fact that you aren't piling it on uncontrollably!!!!

I'd be quite happy not to have gained as much  Dont worry i think it just depends on the person, so really you have put on 17lb which must be pretty normal ?

:hugs: :hugs:

Gained 5lbs so far and I'm 37 weeks. Weight gain is to the individual. As long as your bump and baby grow that's all that matters to them hun. You may just be a lucky one who has a tidy neat celebrity bump!

I gained nearly 2 stone with both the boys !!!! So totally different this time round. I used to eat loads of rubbish with the boys, but this time, I just want healthy stuff. I hope it stats that way or I'm gonna pile it on afterwards.
Must be different coz I'm carrying a girl this time. The wahole pregnancy has been totally different. :D

Same as me, gained 2 stone with Mikey lol.

I still feel ever so tiny, but then I have nothing to compare it to so why do I. Have left a message with MW for her to call me to see if I can pop along and see her just for peace of mind. x x

I've only gained one pound. And that was in the past 2 weeks. I was so happy to gain a pound, hahah. The doctor just always says "great" when she sees my weight and never mentions it to me.

Im 32 weeks today and ive not really gained anything well its hard to tell as i was 9st when i fell pregnant but due to food aversions and sickness i dropped down to 8st and im now only 8st 9lb so im still lighter than i was when i fell pregnant. I mentioned it to my midwife at my 28 week check up and she said my fundal height is over average so shes not worried. I have a tiny bump guess id be moaning if i had a huge bump lol. Id say for peace of mind id mention it to your mw. I will defo be mentioning it to her again on wednesday when i go for my 32 week check up x
