Hi there

Hoping some of you ladies might be able to help. I'm expecting my first baby in June and have been feeling movement since about 16 weeks, lots of kicks, punches etc but in the last couple of days the movement has changed, it is a lot softer now and there doesn't seem to be any big kicks anymore, it's more like limbs brushing against me. I know that movement changes when baby runs out of room but surely at 28 weeks this is too early and the change was quite quick, it didn't happen over a period of weeks. I spoke to my midwife about it and she said as long as i'm still feeling 10 movements/day then it's fine and I do feel at least 10 they just feel so different to what i'm used to. My fundal measurements put me two weeks ahead so maybe i'm just growing a big baby? I also have an amniotic band/sheet which cuts off part of my uterus - the midwife and sonographers didn't seem too concerned about it but it has made me paranoid about baby getting limbs trapped, running out of space etc. If I carry on measuring big they will give me a growth scan at 36 weeks but that still seems so far away. Has anyone else noticed a similar change in movement around this time? Thank you

I am about 27 weeks and the last few days I have had the same! Thought at first something was wrong but still feeling 10 movements just a lot more subtle - wierd! Worrying too, hoping baby will perk up again soon as I love the reassurance of proper kicks despite moaning about them half the time!!

I experienced a similar change at around that time, and I've actually read in more than one place that 28 weeks is right when most babies no longer have room for the big kicks anymore. Like your midwife said - the type of movement you feel is much less important than the amount.

I'm 31 weeks and that happened to me a couple of weeks ago... i was worried too but i think it's normal... i've had a dr's appointment since and my dr said the baby's doing great :)

I still get big kicks every now and then but most of her movements are her brushing up against me. I think that actually feels stronger than the kicks, if I poke down where she's at I can follow her movements with my hand. Haha. But yeah her punches and kicks are kept to a minimum now.

When I was around 28-30 weeks the same thing happened. I still feel her move alot but they are more her limbs sticking out, like her bum and knees and i can feel her hands running across my hips. I think it's normal, but you should still be feeling baba move. And the odd kick/punch but also every baby is different too. HTH

Same as the others have said, I noticed a different in movement about a fortnight ago. He went from giving me big jerky kicks and punches, to softer, rolling movements. I tend to feel him slowly sticking limbs out like legs and feet, and bum most of the time. Still get the out jerky kick here and there too. Sounds normal to me :)

Hi Girls, Just thought I'd put your minds at rest..
I went to the hospital for a check on baby Friday night after not getting the 'same' sort of movements, as you all describe more like a subtle kick or movement from baby (but I had less than 10 all day). Baby was totally fine and on the doppler could hear that the baby was moving around loads which I still couldn't feel! The midwife said that at 27/28 weeks there is still just about enough for baby to turn right around in the womb and practically face the other way which would explain why the movements don't feel as strong. Don't worry its all normal, unless you don't feel any movements or under 10 in 12 hrs which I was todal then call the triage at your maternity unit.
Hope this helps reassure you all.x

Thank you so much for all your reassurances, phew sounds like its normal around this time -think i'm just a paranoid mummy to be!! I'm so pleased I found this site and eventually plucked up the courage to join you ladies, it's great having lots of friendly people to talk to all going through the same things at the same time :)

Im still getting kicks but think im entering into the changeover aswell as last couple of days ive noticed strong rolling movements which take my breat:winkwink:h
