Hi ladies, I hope this post isn't too long and rambling! Long story short, I'm 23 weeks along with our first baby (a little boy!) and just had my follow up ultrasound because at the first 20-week scan they had measured the cerebellum as being a bit small. At the scan today, the specialist said that the cerebellum looked fine, and that everything else looked perfect BUT that the part of the brain by the cerebellum (not sure what it's called but it's sort of telephone receiver shaped) was not as visible as it usually is. It was definitely there, just not super pronounced. He said that on a scale of 1-10, where 10 was most worried and 1 was unconcerned, he was a 1. However, he scheduled me for a follow-up scan in about five weeks to take another look. I know he said not to worry, and he was reassuring, but I'm still freaked out. The baby is super active and healthy, so it's probably an unfounded worry but still. Does anyone have any experience with anything similar?

If they were worried they would say something. If they aren't worried you shouldn't either. I know it's easier said than done but it's what's best. They can't lie to you and give you false information so he is probably just fine! At my 20 week with the baby they couldn't get a clear shot of her spine so they rescheduled me but said not to worry because she looked very healthy and low and behold she is! Try not to panic!

Sorry I don't and I didn't want to read and run, I hope you get given the all clear at the next scan, although I know it will be an anxious wait. It sounds like he is just being thorough, try to focus on that 1 he gave you on his worry scale. X

If they are not worried then I wouldn't be worried either, although that's really hard when they've said that they want to rescan and I know how long 5 weeks can feel. At my 20 week scan they found an abnormality with my son's brain and wanted me to get another scan within 2 days because of the severity of it. Please believe me that if they believed that there was something that was severe and could impact on your baby's life quality/development they wouldn't leave you for 5 weeks they'd get you in right away.

Sorry I can't offer more help,

Xxx

Thanks ladies! I'll try to put it out of my mind for the next few weeks, waiting for those scans is so stressful though. I'm going to focus on the 1 the doctor gave me in the meantime.

I have no experience, but I just wanted to send some hugs your way. It's so hard not to worry, but I would take his 1 on the worry scale with sincerity and just stay busy so these next five weeks fly by. :hugs:
