I am laying in bed 1 day post-op. It has been 12 years since my first CC. My first child I went into pre-term at 24 weeks but after strict bedrest I held her to 36w4d. My second I started labor at 18 weeks with funneling and 2 cm dialated. After the emergent CC I was placed on modified bedrest but delivered at 37w6d. This is baby #3 and was scheduled for CC at 14w to prevent my IC from decending the baby too soon. When he finished with the surgery he spoke to my MIL in the waiting room. He told her that I had alot of scar tissue and that my cervix was already short to 1.8 cm. He said I will need to be seen every week for the duration of my pregnancy. I will find out Friday the verdict of bedrest. I work full time but we are ok with STD from work so I am blessed if we have to be on bedrest. I will do anything that I have to do so this baby makes it full term. It is hard to be on bedrest but with the internet and 900 channels it makes it a lot easier. Wish us luck...and shoot some prayers our way...10 weeks to 24...20 weeks to 34...the countdown starts now!

Good luck honey - why don't you join us over in the IC thread, it's filled with ladies all going through the same thing at different stages in their pregnancies - a very supportive place to be :)

An early preventative stitch is so much more effective than one placed after cervical changes btw, so despite your scar tissue, things look very good for you (the scar tissue can sometimes strengthen a weak cervix too hun, so even if it is short, it could be stronger as a result of your previous surgeries) xx

Went to the OB today and I have been put on bedrest the rest of my pregnancy. He stated that I did not have enough usable cervix to stitch into so he had to go closer to the tip the he would have liked. He stated that he is 70% ok with the stitch. My Dr. is not one to overreact. Originally I was told that if everything worked out good that I could return back to work and forget about it but that was not the case.:sad1:
I was told that my IC will not be completely protected by this cerclage. He stated that I will be watched by ultrasound for the next 10 weeks hoping that I won't have funneling or sortning but if I do then we will have to take the next step. I will have to get a abdminal cerclage placed. He states it is rarely done anymore. He is a very acomplished Dr. and that scares me.
Oh yeah...we are having a son. I do not want to get to excited because 10 weeks is a lot of time. I just can not help it.:happydance:
