3oz isn't doing the job anymore! Having to up his bottles to 4oz! And on the tin it reckons 6 bottles a day, well he has between 7 and 9...

He's just on his 6th now and will be up through the night at least once

Why are my children so greedy haha. I bet he's going to end up just like his brother, VERY tall and broad ( not fat in the slightest but solid)

X

Both mine were/are big feeders Lol!
Jayden was on about 10 bottles every 24hours until he was around 5 months, Finley has less ounces but has about 14.. he just never seems full! x

mine is 8 weeks and still having 8 bottles in 24hrs it depends on the weight of your baby, dont go by what it says on the tin as its only a guide i was told in hospital by neonatal staff that if you make up say 3oz and baby takes the whole lot then start making an extra ounce so that you know baby is full and so if she leaves some you know shes had enough

I've been a bit worried as LO is 4 weeks and box says 5oz with 5 bottles in 24 hrs. He is having at least 6-7 bottles of 5oz and would have 6oz in the night if he could. Shall I jut go with it?

Also before their next bottle is due do yor babies get upset? Mine cries for his bottle does that mean I've left it too long in between bottles? Thing is sometimes he cries after 2hrs and technically he should be going 4 if I was to give him the number the box says!!!!

I Wait until mine cries for it. That's how we know he wants it! He cries (well winge cry) and chews his hands. Yeh just go with it.

Weve also given him water today as he seems to have tummy ache and it's hot. Its made him have a good poo!

Haha that's good! I know you were worried about constipation! Our LO went mon til fri without going - I gave him 2 consecutive days of water and no luck. The HV said to juice an orange and put some of that in with his water - WELL I've never seen a pooh like it lol! Must be like bloody dynamite haha x

Well rorys turned even greedier today. He had a 4oz bottle at 4.30pm then 1oz at 5, 1oz at 6 and another 3 at 8!!! Do you thinkhhe might have tummy ache but think hes hungry? He cries, won't settle, chews his hands but is eating sooo much. He would normally settle if I put him on my chest and pat his bum or rub his back but he just sqirms atm :(

X

Mine is only taking 2-3 oz every 2-3 hours.
I know he should have about 2.5 oz per pound of weight.
He's 9.5 lbs, so that's 23.75 oz per 24 hours, which is about what he takes.

Do yours tend to take less at night?

you shud make an oz more than hes having all the time tht way hes more to have if he wants it, also 4oz isnt an awful lot, dnt read the tin just go with the baby, if hes not going 3-4hr hes not getting enough , my son was on 5oz from just a wk old :/ , he will go longer tho if u let him av wot he needs x

I would think that giving him more at set feed times about 3-4 hours apart is better than little bits here and there as that's almost as time consuming as breast feeding! When mine seems hungry too early I cuddle and distract him for that reason. If its getting towards feed time ish then I just feed him. But I've had to up the amount in his bottles today as it just wasn't cutting it!

He may have a bit of tummy ache due to the change over too

What if he won't take any more?
I can distract him for a few minutes, but when he's hungry, he's hungry.
I would LOVE it if he took more & I had fewer feeds. Believe me!

Mine is getting way more than that. The SMA tin even says the amounts are averages and some babies take less or more and to always feed on demand. So I'm trying not to get hung up on numbers and just making sure he's not hungry. Someone said you can't over feed them as they just throw up extra. Mine doesn't throw up so think I'm ok x

Usually yes but last night he had 9pm 3oz, 9.30 2oz, 11.30 2oz, 12.10 2oz, 3am 4oz, 6am 4oz then 7am 2oz!!

When he got weighed on Thursday he was 8lb3 but that was before we went onto formula. Do ff babies cluster feed coz that's what he seems to be doing xx

Mine has taken 4-5 oz since I switched him last week and drains 99% of his bottles each time, so I'm not sure about them taking little bits here and there as I haven't experienced it...

Maybe it's about getting more down them in one go to make them go longer? But I agree that can be pretty impossible!

Yes, they do cluster feed.

Oh, & here's a quick read re newborn feeding schedules...

Switched him? Do you mean from BFing to FFing?

Yep he was breast fed for 3 weeks then over the last week I gradually introduced formula until about 3 days ago he's not exclusively on formula
