3 week AF??

Hey ladies, firstly I want to apologize in advance if I am posting this in the wrong forum?? I'm after some opinions & advice as I'm at a loss at what's wrong with me.
I'm 33 years old, I have 1 child who is 8. My husband & I have been TTC for 10 months now. My Af usually arrives every 5 weeks, lasting a good 7 days and always heavy. My Af arrived 3rd Jan and after 3 weeks is still here?? The first week was extremely heavy with bad cramping, but nothing new there really. The bleeding has eased off now but is still there and the past 2 days it's just turned into Brown spotting when I wipe after toilet?? I'm sorry if its TMI, but needed to describe In much detail as I could.
I went to my GP on friday & he was very unhelpful saying it could just be a 'blip' & to come bk next month if it happens again! Thing is, as you all know TTC can be very frustrating & as each month passes, disheartening Iv no idea where I stand regarding ovulation now, and my AF on my calender is due in 2 weeks! How am I supposed to conceive if I'm constantly bleeding? It's also frustrating for hubby for obvious reasons. Thanks for reading, if anyone has had a similar problem or knows what's goin on here, I'd love to hear from you xx

Im bleeding this past week too..bright red spotting every second day im going to test tomorrow and if negative ill call the doc x hope your ok hun

ever now and then, maybe every 8 months or so i have a full cycle of bleeding and my cycle last much longer - as if 2 run into one another (mine are short 22/23 days and they last about 40ish) , In the past i had no or poor ovulation and i think now i do ovulate normally my body just has the odd 'blip' where nothing happens and i just bleed continually. Once it finally stops everything is normal the next cycle for me, hope this is the same for you x

Thank you ladies, missy 123, good luck at the doctorsxx Shells, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm getting so fed up each month when Af arrives, this month has Been a nightmare as its not stopped. Xx I'm praying ill be ok next time xx

I've had similar problems and ended up with about 3 weeks of bleeding/spotting on a couple of occasions. For me it turned out to be due to my hormones not working properly (high prolactin). Maybe ask your doctor for some blood tests to check your hormone levels? Sometimes you need to be pushy for getting tests done as GPs understandably want to save money when they can.
