Hello Ladies,

I was hoping for some one to give me some advice based on experience if possible. You would think I would have had enough experience this being my 4th section but no this section feels different.

Firstly they had to make the incision very long to cut out all old scar tissue and to get baby out. So my scar is literally all across my bikini line. All the way across.

My problem is, where the new scar is, from where it's being extended it's burning a lot on the right hand side. If I sneeze or laugh it really burns/stings. I thought I would be feeling much better by now but no

The overall apperance of the scar looks like it's healed well. But it is tender to touch. The skin around the right hand side and down my lady bits is numb ;0(

I'm just curious as I never felt like this before, I am worried that some nerve damage has been done?

Any thoughts? xx

I have only had one section as my first was a natural birth, but I do remember thinking a few weeks in that it was so much more painful than I expected it to be. At 6 weeks I was still struggling a bit, but by 8 weeks I was pretty much pain free, I just all of a sudden felt better! I also experienced some numbness on the scar and around it, it is still there a bit but not as bad. You have had sections before so have more experience, if you think it isn't a normal healing pain mention it to your dr or health visitor, and write down a list of questions for when you have your 6 week check xx

burning normally is a sign of infection, it might not show on the outside, best to get it checked

Hiya

This was my first baby and I had an emergency c section just over 9 weeks ago and I had the exact same as you burning and weeping it was very painful but I left mine for to long and now I am just finishing off my 3rd set of antibiotics for my 3rd infection it has only just stopped burning a few days ago, I would make a doctors appointment and get it checked incase it's an infection I wouldn't want for you to be like me 9 weeks on and still in pain, hope it eases off soon for you :hugs:

I had a similar sensation on the left hand side when I turned, got up, sat down or laid funny (I noticed it most when pulling myself up in bed to BF). It went on until about 5/6 weeks and then it just went, almost overnight! I still have some altered sensation and a hard ridge above my scar which I assume is the internal stitching healing and I guess will improve in time but other than that I feel pretty much normal now 7 weeks on. :happydance:

Hope you feel better soon but if you're worried, see your doctor.

I had horrible burning and stinging up until about 4 weeks after my csection. Mine was due to my incision site coming apart from the inside (which isn't as bad as it sounds). The dr said that was normal since I had such a long incision. If I would turn a certain way or cough/sneeze, etc it would literally bring me to my knees in pain. Then all of a sudden one day I noticed that it hadn't bothered me in days. Just be sure to take it easy and make no sudden movements since it is still healing. Also, if at home and you need to sneeze or cough or even laugh, hold a pillow very tight up against you and it relieves it tremendously!!

I still have a bit of stinging at the edges of my scar a month after my section. I was told it's fairly normal to have pain at the edges of the scar where it is tightenig as it heals.

I was in alot of pain after my c section. The only way I can describe the pain was like a red hot poker slicing through my scar. At first the pain was worse on one side then it went across to the other - my Midwife said this is where the Doctor ties everything up. I also found if I stood for too long my scar would burn like hell. I remember the first two nights in the hospital crying in pain and asking the Doctor for more pain relief - whick I couldn't have! It's like a distant memory now, but I woudn't like to do it again! Take care. x

I had an elective section as LO was breech just over 2 weeks ago and i have exactly the same sort of pain, unfortunantly ive also got a bit of an overhang so my scar gets a bit sticky so ive been trying to air it after showers etc. Im a gyneacology nurse so i know what to look for with these kinds of wounds but still worry about my own! the numbness is normal and is just because the superficial nerves have been cut and it should come back but can take several months. watch out for any reddness and if the skin feels hot too touch but if your concerned id always get it checked out cos infections in abdominal wounds are notoriously difficult to get rid of once they set in! sorry to ramble im new to this forum malarky!
