What is the deal?!?!

He used to be a 1-2 hour napper. Now for the past 3 weeks it's only 30 minutes two or three times a day unless I'm driving him around. Then he could sleep for about 2 hours. He sleeps great at night and could put himself back to sleep if he wakes up 4 hours after being in bed, but when it comes to naps he acts like he forgot how to sleep.

I know things could be worse but I'm wondering what other people have done about this. Does it get better? My son will be 4 months on Sunday.

Both my boys did this. DS1 grew out of it when he started crawling at 8 months.

DS2 still does it.....sigh....just waiting it out

my DS has been doing this for what seems like forever, it probably started about 3.5 months and has only in the last couple of days got a little bit better and he has started having 1-1.5hr naps, he is 6.5 months now and crawling and pulling up so i think that's tiring him out lol

I'm afraid my wonderful sleeper and blissful napper became a frequent night-waker and started taking 20-40 minute naps at around five months old.

She is yet to grow out of it ...

Oh no Meep!! That has gone on for a while for you. I hope she grows out of it soon!

Isn't it always the way. I posted this last night and this morning he took a 90 minute nap. It was probably just a fluke thing though......but I hope not!

Thank you for saying that your son needed to be tired out. I did more tummy time/playing this morning and he ended up taking a 90 minute nap. I don't know if it was because of extra playing, but I hope so!

Mine did the same, it's annoying! She starting to do better now though. She had a 2 and half nap the other day.

My son (almost 7 months old) started taking really short naps when he was still on 3 naps per day. After he switched to only 2 naps per day, both were longer. Now his morning naps are super short, and it seems like he's phasing them out to just take a longer afternoon nap. Is yours still taking more than one nap per day?

We've also adjusted the way we put him down for naps. We used to be able to set him down with no naptime routine, in full daylight with background noise, and he would nap fine. He's getting to be a lighter sleeper in his old age, so we've started pulling down the shades, putting him in his sleep sack, singing his bedtime song, and keeping the house super quiet while he's sleeping. It's helped to extend nap times a bit.

Good luck!

Yes, my DD is the same. Up until 5 months she was an amazing sleeper. She slept 12 hours at night and would nap for a couple of hours at a time. Now, she wakes around three times a night and doesn't sleep for more than 30 minutes at a time during the day. I am hoping her afternoon nap will stretch out when she decides to drop the morning one. I think her night sleep will improve eventually, as I know she has it in her to sleep well so I am just waiting and hoping!
