so what does it mean, i know im high risk for premature labour but does anyone have any idea of what all this could mean, im 100% effaced and 1.5 cm dilated but not had any contractions or pain.

This has been going on since 29 weeks but i am only now 100% effaced

Well, it does mean both you and mw need to keep a close eye, however it doesnt necessarily mean you'll go early.. A lot of people efface and dilated weeks before they go into labour. Can i ask, why did they examine you in the first place? Like at 29wks if you've had no pain etc

i had a bit of blood when wiping so they did an internal which is when they found i was slightly dilated. It was only this morning after doing another one that they found i have now gone to 100 % effaced as well.

If you've had a baby before, it's normal to be 1 cm dilated for the rest of your life! 1 cm is nothing... 1.5 cm is almost nothing... Also, lots of people spend the entire last trimester being a little dilated, and they often go overdue even with that. Just be extra careful because you know you're effaced... Stay off your feet as much as possible, and if you DO get contractions (more than 4 in an hour and are still getting them), let your doctor or MW know.

I went through this with my first pregnancy, although mine was due to having an irritable uterus and contracting all the time. I was 1 cm dilated and 80% effaced at 30 weeks. By 33 weeks I was about the same as you. I did not get put on bedrest and I am a nurse and worked 12 hr shifts on my feet. They did monitor me closer though and three times I was monitored in the hospital for a few hours. But I ended up going on to make it past my DD to 40+6!!

With first pregnancies you will efface first, dilate later. It is the other way around for subsequent pregnancies. So if this is your first pregnancy, that is why you have effaced first.

Hope you don't have any other complications. Good luck:flower:

Oh, and wanted to tell you... they were doing FFN (fetal fibronectin) tests on me every 2 weeks which can be a precursor to PTL. That is why they let me work.

it is my first baby and im on drugs to stop my uterus from contracting. i think the not knowing is the worse.

I've been in that same position since 32 weeks, except 3cm and 100%. and at 39 weeks here I am still going about my regular routine with no sign of baby coming. I guess for some people it really can mean nothing, just that tour body is preparing which is good! So i wouldn't worry! Good luck!
