Yesterday while I was at work I lost what I figured was my mucus plug.
-TMI-
I have been noticing that in the morning my underwear is white but as the day goes on it turns into more of a brown stain... Something I should be worried about? The stuff that I found in the toilet looked like mucus mixed with blood, it varied in color from brown to red. So I called my doctor and left a message. I'm a ftm and it was very frustrating not knowing what was going on and waiting for them to call me back (it took an hour). They told me to watch for contractions and decreased movements from lil man. I have a very high pain tolerance and I am worried that I will mistake contractions for some kind of pain that isn't that big of a deal but is just one of the joys pregnancy.

Since I am only 33 weeks I am worried he will try and come early so I am freaking out... I guess I just need some opinions on the situation.

Have you had sex in the last 48 hours? Sometimes you can irritate your cervix and have more mucusy looking discharge after a sexual encounter.

I lost my mucus plug going into the last three days of my 31 week. I would call back and ask for an appointment. I was dilating and my cervix was effacing. I bled for three days that following weekend and have been having mucusy discharge with streaks of blood in it since.

Having red bloody discharge is the bigger concern. The brown is old blood, but that still needs to be checked out. If you get checked out they may want to give you steroid shots as a precaution. I think it is very important not to let something like that go. Sometimes we have to push a bit harder for treatment. I went called l&d when I had the bloody mucus and was told to come straight in for observation. Perhaps call them instead?

It could be nothing, but if it is something, I'd definitely want to get checked out.

No I haven't had sex in probably about a week and a half. I'm starting to freak myself out because he isn't moving like he use to and I am thinking I am having contractions but I'm not really sure.

Okay, reduced movements need to be checked out and never let to be. Especially if you're also having red discharge. Just give a call to l&d and tell them what has been going on and tell them that you are not feeling the baby as much. They'll probably have you come in and get a NST. Not only will it monitor the heartbeat and movements, but it will monitor for contractions as well. Most likely, the baby will start jumping around, especially if they use this sound device to wake the baby up. But just in case, it's good to go get checked.

If you are having contractions, they will most likely be able to stop them. It's just a shot. They'd probably give you the steroid shots too since you're still pretty early. It's just a precaution. I had contractions, effacement, dilation, mucus plug loss, blood, and I am thankful I got it checked out (I thought the contractions were BHs) because they made it stop and I'm still pregnant thank goodness.
Oh, they gave me progesterone suppositories too to stop the bleeding and help the uterus calm down.

Good luck hun. I hope you get answers soon.

With DS I told my Dr. at 32 wks I thought I was losing my mucous plug. I don't think she took me seriously- she said "increased vaginal discharge is normal." she didn't check me or anything. The whole next week I was "nesting" and he arrived at 34 weeks when my water spontaneously broke. If I were you'd I'd ask to be checked to see if you are dialating...

I had a show - blood and mucus plug, 5 days ago now. I'm 33 weeks too. My doctor said it is a sign that cervix is stating to prepare for birth. He said it could mean that early labour is on its way... But he also said that it may not, it may settle down and I could still make my due date! I figure, I've had no other symptoms since the show- so I am just trying not to worry and continuing on as usual as doctor recommended :) keep us posted on how you go xxx

I've been loosing bits of my plug since Friday just the snot type stuff no blood tinge but quite a bit of it, then Friday night I had a gush which wet my pants and leggings but after laying with a pad on I had nothing more liquid wise but I am still losing plus sometimes that a bit and other times, like tonight, the loo roll was covered

No experience myself, but I would definitely call l&d and get checked. Hopefully it isn't something to be worried about though.

It's totally normal to lose parts of the plug...it can even come back...it's nothing to worry about. And if you were having contx, trust me, you'd know! You could call, but I certainly wouldn't go rushing in at this point. Just send a message along, but again, it's almost certainly just your body preparing for the big day.
