hi im 34 weeks pregnant and worried that i might have a c-section  i can turn him so far around but he just flips back to breech my midwife dosnt seem to know what shes doing which worries me even more. my babys been breech since 29 weeks and just hasnt wanted to turn the right way iv tried everything to turn him but nothing works :nope: does anybody know how to help me on when the midwifes ment to worry about him being breech and what will get done because i dont want it left till the last min. :)

It makes me so angry that midwives don't give very good advice on this. My baby was breech at 32, and turned by 34.

I followed a lot of the advice on https://spinningbabies.com/ and used Moxi sticks.

Breech babies are not at all uncommon at 32 weeks, and s/he will probably move by the time you get to birth.

My experience was that one day s/he was really moving about in my belly, so I took the opportunity to get on all fours as often as possible (I was still at work so nipped off to the toilet every hour for 5 mins!) and at the next midwife appointment it was a normal presentation.

What have you been doing to get him/her to move?

well he tried to turn the other day but because hes a very big boy i dont think theres enough room for him to move. i have been getin on all fours swayin my hips which seems to move him alot but not enough also been laying with my head lower than the rest of my body which also works but again he dosnt turn all the way iv tried to turn him while he does this. im worried at my next mw appointment she wont do anything and i dont want to give birth breech because the dangers of the cord bein compressed and getin wraped around the babys neck ect.

It's good you are trying everything you can. It really makes a difference. You could also try playing nice relaxing music to the bottom of your bump. The theory is that the baby is attracted to the music. The other thing is when you are laying with your pelvis higher than your head, put cold on the area of your bump where the head is, and warm towards the bottom of your belly. This is also supposed to help.

It doesn't seem like your midwife is letting you know how common this actually is. At 28 weeks' gestation 25% of babies are breech, and the percentage decreases approaching term to about 3-4% The odds are baby will turn on his/her own. Having said that I know it's very scary at the moment as I was there just a few weeks back!

Has your midwife talked with you about getting the baby turned externally in hospital. It's an option if the baby hasn't turned by the time you get close. It's performed with constant monitoring in case the baby becomes distressed, and works about 50% of the time. It's not an ideal solution, but it's something to talk about with her so you know all your options.

Do keep us informed how it goes... I know how scary it is, but seriously the odds are in your favour especially as you are doing what you can to help the baby turn.

I was breech until about 30 weeks with Lani and then transverse for a few weeks after.. I know exactly what turned her.. because before the activity she was definitley tranverse and afterwards my entire bump shape had changed and she was definitley head down...

The activity.. well it was (embarrased now!) having sex doggy style!! Definitley worth a go if you have tried everything else!! x

My daughter was breech until 36+3 when she turned round of her own accord while I was lying on my back not moving because I was on hourly obs due to my blood pressure.

There is still plenty of time for your baby to turn round. Have you been scanned yet to confirm? I was due to have a scan at 37 weeks to check position and then decide on a plan of action. The options were an ECV which is a procedure undertaken by a dr to try to turn the baby, c section or to attempt a breech birth vaginally. At your next appointment, I would be asking the midwife about a scan to check the baby's position and then talking through the options.

But if you do have a section, it's not the end of the world. I had to have one and it was fine. I recovered well and was up and about within a couple of days.

How can you tell if baby is breech?? I think mine is, cuz I'll randomly get a hard bulge on my right side. Figure that's her head, right? Occasionally an arm/leg will appear also.

But she really doesn't like it when I press on my stomach to try and figure it out. Like I just was pressing on my stomach and she kicked me and made my hand jump! She has such an attitude...I'm in trouble with this one lol

That bump might well be her bum. My midwife told me bums feel more 'pointy' but because babies aren't very chubby there bums are kind of hard.

You could also look into belly mapping, which there is a bit of into on on spinningbabies.com
