Hello Ladies,
38 and 3 today. This is my first, so I've had tons of questions this entire pregnancy.. what's one more?

(WARNING: TMI) - I've had increased discharge the past few weeks which I've read in my baby books that its normal at this stage in the game, yesterday morning I lost, what looked like, a piece of my mucus plug. I say a piece because I expected there to be more?.... it was about a nickel size amount: yellow, sticky, and brown streaked. Nothing except the discharge since then. Is it possible to lose just a portion? Friends and even my Mom mentioned the " huge glob" (gross) they lost all at once and then going into labor that night... nothing else for me here.

I'm just so anxious and ready for her to be here. I believe I've ready too many horror stories of complications, stillbirths etc.. if feel like the sooner she is here the less I need to worry.

Thanks in advance!!

Sadly doesn't mean anything XP Doctors and nurses don't put much importance on the mucus plug. It just means your body is going in the right direction to birth a baby. (Dilating and Effacing).

To answer your question, yes you can lost just a portion at a time. Many women don't even see or notice they lost their mucus plug.

I have been losing 'globs' of mucus plug for the past several days. In the morning it's golfball sized. My doctor said my mucus plug was basically all done at my last check (Thursday) but here I am still pregnant. I am at a 3cm and 50% effaced -3 station according to my apt. last Thursday.

With my daughter I lost my mucus plug nearly the same time and was 3cm and 80% effaced -3 for a week and then went to 4cm 80% effaced -3 station and two 1/2 days later finally went into labor. At 39w 5d at night and had her 39w 6d in the morning.

I lost some of mine last night too- same as yours, blood streaked but not much of it. I spent about two hours googling and have concluded it doesn't mean much! Which is good for me as I'm 32 weeks and had a bit of a panic.

With my first LO I lost some around 35 weeks, though no blood, and he didn't arrive til 38 weeks. The rest of it came out about ten minutes before he was born.

I've been losing pieces of my mucus plug for a couple of weeks and midwife/consultant have both said it's normal xx

It's normal to lose pieces not all at once. Hoping this means you will go into labor soon!
