39w and baby's head still not engaged / EDIT now 40w!

Feel free to say no to an induction. Yes, the Dr is going to push for it if it's what he wants to do but If you're not comfortable with it & you don't consent, it doesn't happen. The main reason docs here in the US push things like this is because people are so quick to want to bring a lawsuit if anything happens even if It's not actually the doc's fault. By him recommending an induction at 40 weeks when he believes the baby is doing fine he avoids the risk of something developing later & him being blamed for not doing something earlier. It's sad but fear motivates docs to do a lot of things even if they're not totally necessary. But if you say no, you say no & that's the end of that. Good luck.

Oh that makes more sense now- not that I think it is good medicine but I can see how they are trying to cover themselves! :)
