So I had my 34 week check-up today. She checked my fundal height but didn't comment on it. I was going to ask but we were talking about other things lol. Anyway, she did an internal exam and said I'm already 2cm dilated, didn't mention if I've started to efface at all yet and said Leah's breech. She didn't have to reach far to feel my cervix either. Sent me to L&D for an NST which I/Leah passed.

However she had them do a group B strep swab on me 2 weeks early because (according to the OB at the hospital) she thinks I'll probably deliver early. The swab is only valid for a few weeks so if you do it too early, you'll have to get it redone before the end of your pregnancy which is why most OB's do the swab at 36 weeks. So having mine done at 34 because she thinks I'll deliver early, already being 2cm and having a breech baby... I'm freaked out a little lol. I know anything can happen or not happen still so I'm not going to stress TOO much about it.

I know you can be dilated for several weeks and nothing will happen but at the same time my first born was 10 days early, my second baby was 13 days early, my mom had me 2 weeks early and my siblings were both born a month early so I feel like it's inevitable. I didn't start dilating this early in previous pregnancies but again, I know that really holds no bearing to the outcome this time around.

Ever since the appointment/NST, I've had a lot of pain and pressure but no contractions or anything. I wonder why I'm having so much pressure if she's breech though. Never had a breech baby before haha.

Mine is currently breech and she has her butt wedge all the way down into my cervix. Depending on the breech position that the baby is in the pressure on your cervix/pelvic could be her bottom or her feet.

FX for you that she sticks around in there a little longer :)

Thanks. The doctor didn't say much just that she was definitely breech. I could have sworn she was head down and even engaged based on everything I've been feeling the last couple of days haha. Shows what I know!

I've been pretty crampy today and it's really starting to annoy me. There were no contractions registering during the NST but I've had a few here and there. Nothing worth noting by any means, just a few over the course of the last couple of days where I started to feel all the pain/pressure/etc.

And of course I've had to go #2 a million times today but I don't think that is the same as "clearing out" as I thought that really only means having the runs, right?

No your clean out can come in as lots of bowel movements just smaller amounts. It sounds like something might be going on.

The baby can flip though even once labor starts especially since you're only at 34w.

Whatever it is, it's VERY uncomfortable and annoying haha. I know I can still be in this same situation for a few weeks though so I don't want to get too hopeful or look into it TOO much but at the same time, it's hard not to.

My strep b swab was taken at 6 weeks!!!!!!!!
And they are refusing to retest!

I feel cheated :(

Are you in the States or overseas? In a baby group I'm in here, one of the ladies is from the UK and said she was tested for it during her last pregnancy, tested positive and they never told her or gave her antibiotics during labor/delivery. They caught it in her files at the last minute but it was too late so her baby had to be rushed off after delivery and put on a drip. She didn't understand why it wasn't taken more seriously but here we're automatically tested at usually 36 weeks.

I didn't know about the 5 week limit and needing to have it done if you still haven't delivered yet though.

UK

The only reason I was tested was because I was bleeding. I didn't even know I wS being tested. X
