Hi

Just wondering when your transverse babies turned, or if they didn't.
This will be my third baby. Baby has been transverse the last 5 weeks. Well all along really but only went head down last week when I was having contractions for pre term labour. The hospital scanned me and head was down. I was discharged from hospital 8 days later and baby is transverse again.
Anyone's babies turned?

I would like to know that same thing. My LO has also been transverse for the last few weeks. I am going to try some exercises to see if i can help him move to the head down position.

Interested as well. Dd hasn't turned yet and both of my son's were turned already. Petrified of a csection so this is why I worry most. Doctor did tell me that only 3% of babies are actually britch so that was good to hear but wondering if I'll be that small 3%=(

my third was breech and never did turn! this one was breech and sometimes transverse until 32 weeks and a few days when he finally turned head down and has that way since!
Good luck I hope your baby turns soon for you

My last baby switched between transverse and breach all the way up to I think 37 weeks, then he turned. He was a little stinker. I had to have a c-section anyway because I ran out of fluids and they wouldn't let me vbac without my labor starting by itself. My current baby at 33 weeks switches between transverse and head down constantly. :)

After your first baby, they can lay any which way up until literally when you go into labour. Second and on babies don't engage like first babies.

My third and fourth didn't engage until late in labor. My 4th wasn't completely transverse but moved from head down to diagonal all the way until the end. I still successful vaginal births with them all.

Thanks ladies. I've another scan tomorrow , but I still think transverse. I'm more concerned now as the risk of the prolapsed cord and the fact that I ama tv risk of pre term labour. I'll chat to my consultant tomorrow

This is our 3rd too and this baby keeps going from breech to transverse to head down back to breech.. Seems to change each appointment lol stresses me out a little. Hope she goes head down in time!!

My third (just had him) was breech and transverse up until 35 weeks. He was a small baby so had a lot of room to move.x

My first baby was transverse until 35 weeks when he went breech! I got him head down using SpinningBabies techniques (google them!). I used their techniques throughout the rest of the pregnancy to keep his position. I also had to use these techniques for my back-to-back babies (second and third!). My current pregnancy is transverse, so I'll use these techniques again if he hasn't moved on his own in a few weeks. For now, I'm not worried about it at all.

I had another scan today, baby is partly oblique/transverse . If I can hold on and not deliver early the consultant told me I'll be admitted at 36/37 weeks if baby stays in the current position. Baby is only at 25th percentile. Scan again in 2 weeks. I hope the baby moves up the percentiles and changes position

My third baby spent most of his time transverse up until 40+ weeks, though he was a mover and still frequently summersaulted right up until term. At 37 weeks I had an ultrasound to confirm his position... He started out transverse and then while they were doing the scan he did a complete flip and I walked out of there with him transverse again. The scan was rather inconclusive lol

They wanted to give me a cesarean or do a controlled rupture and induce immediately following an ECV, but I declined. Most of the other options for turning babies (eg positions, chiropractor, moxibustion, etc) weren't suitable as my little dude would just turn back at his leisure.

I declined everything as studies have consistently shown that 80% of transverse babies will turn longitudinal by the onset of labour. And my little guy followed through with that. He stopped with his somersaulting around 38 weeks, between 38-40 weeks he spent most of his time transverse or oblique though he'd occasionally go cephalic and then I think he was 40+4 when he finally settled head down. We had a lovely natural waterbirth at home.

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my 4th now and this one is still summersaulting though tends to spend a lot of it's resting time transverse as well.

Also, has your obstetrician gone through what to do in the event your water breaks and there is a prolapsed cord?

That is one of the primary risks of having a transverse baby, but it's fairly easily managed providing you know what to do which is getting into the knee chest position immediately which is having your breasts on the ground and bum way up in the air. Here's a pic ---> https://resources.ama.uk.com/glowm_www/graphics/figures/v2/0780/003f.gif

It's best to call the paramedics (preferably get someone else to call) and take the ambulance to the hospital so that you can stay in the knee chest position. Once you get on the stretcher you get yourself into the knee-chest position and you stay in that position.

Thank you so much for the info. I just took a photo of the picture and saved it on my phone and on DH's phone. I hope I won't have to adopt this position. Thank you

I'll be 31 weeks on Wednesday and my baby seems to be enjoying the Frank Breech position. People have suggested Spinning Babies to me
