After my 2nd c-section (4 years ago) the doctor told me that my uterus was very thin and I'm lucky that I didn't do a VBAC like I originally wanted, because I would have ruptured. He advised me not to get pregnant again for at least two years and that I'd need a planned c-section at 38 weeks.

My first 2 c-sections were 16 months apart, but I'm not sure if that had anything to do with my uterus being thin. I'm afraid of the third trimester because I'm worried that I'll rupture. Has anyone been told that their uterus is thin and went on to have a normal pregnancy?

Hey

I've had 2 c-sections and then had an ectopic on my c-section scar and my uterus almost ruptured, so they are watching me closely this pregnancy for fear of me rupturing.. the problem is there isn't a lot of data out there. They measured the thickness of my uterus wall in Feb 2014, not pregnant, and it was only 3.5 mm thick.. I was told that I COULD NOT get pregnant. I waited 4 months and they checked the thickness again it was now 7.1 mm thick in just 4 months!!

So I am telling you this since I'm sure that you're fine, in my experience the uterus wall regenerates, which is why the doc told you to wait 2 years.. you waited 4 so I would say it's great.

If you are still worried, you can ask them to check the thickness while you are pregnant. They checked me at 22 weeks and it was 3.9 mm and then just checked me again at 30 weeks and it was 3.7 mm.

I too am scheduled for a c-section at 38 weeks, and have instructions that if I have any "real contractions" to head to the hospital. I asked what to do about braxton hicks, and my doc said those alone are okay, but if I start having increased discharge, spotting/bleeding, lower back pain etc... then to head to the hospital.

I really thought that I was going to be terrified in the 3rd tri.. but so far so good, and I'm not a small pregnant person. What I've learned is that the the stretching that the uterus does is mostly in the upper part of the uterus, not in the lower segment (which is where your scar is).

Good luck!!

I am stalking this thread , I had my 6th baby feb2014 she was going to be my last so when the surgeon said I had a thin uterus I didn't bother to discuss it , fast forward to now and I am currently unexpectedly pregnant with baby number 7, I know I will have tohave a c-section but I clearly have no idea about rupturing , someone did tell me they wouldn't let me go past 37 weeks but I have yet to seen a consultant and ask if this is the case !

I've had 2 sections 51 weeks apart wasn't told anything about the thickness of my uterus just that if I was to fall pregnant again it would have to be another section. found unexpectedly 3 weeks after my youngest turned 1 that I was pregnant and the last few months I've been in so much pain. my consultant says its because of the close pregnancies and the strain on the scar tissue.
