So I had my boy today and got a third degree tear. Nurses say its a bad tear and of course I know that but terrified of the healing process. Anyone havd problems with this kind of tear??? Any advice would be appreciated?

I had an episiotomy and I tore in my labia wasn't told a degree but use everything they give you, the squirt bottle and any ointments and it will heal fine.......not going to lie you will be sore for about a week afterwards especially by the end of the day but relax and it will get better. I had my lo 15 days ago and I notice the stitches in my labia on the occasion (due to different sitting positions) but a majority of the discomfort is gone

I suffered a 3rd degree tear and thankfully healed perfect with no problems at all. It was very sore for the first few weeks, my best advice would be to have 2 warm baths a day, I felt it really soothed any soreness. Just take it easy these first few weeks to give your bod chance to heal.

Congratulations!

I had a 3rd degree tear and it healed perfectly. I was terrified at first but it's absolutely fine. I didn't really do anything other than make sure I kept the area clean and wasn't dashing around like a madwoman (physically impossible anyway!)

I'm not sure if it was to do with the tear or just a general side-effect of giving birth but I found if I needed the loo, I HAD to go asap as I couldn't hold it in as well anymore  But after a week or so of giving birth, I started doing pelvic floors and now everything is fine.

Fingers crossed for you!

I only had second degree but they gave me 800mg ibuprofen--became my best friend!! Lol I definitely advise taking stool softened for a few days...my first poop was scary! But came out ok (tmi lol) I was also given dermablast numbing sprays which was pretty nice too and I think you can get that at target, walmart etc. try not to over do it at home and be careful how you reposition yourself in bed. Also for a while when I went to the bathroom I had to kinda hover toward the front because sitting felt like it was pulling that area too much..ouch! But on the one week mark I felt sooo much better. I hope your healing goes smoothly! It will feel so much better soon! Congrats on your son!! <3

I had an episiotomy too (No idea what 'degree tear' as I wasn't told)

like the ladies said, use the squirt bottle with warm water to keep it clean~! They gave me a pain reliever spray too (Dermoplast Hospital Strength Pain Relieving Spray) and it certainly helped~!

it was uncomfortable in certain sitting position.. even sneezes felt awful~! Just take it easy and it shall heal~

Ive had two 3rd degree tears. The first time was all internal and the first few weeks with all the anti biotics and pain killers I didnt feel a thing. I did have a bit of a problem not been able to feel when I needed the toilet but that didnt last long. Once id finished all tablets I had no probs at all. 2nd time was external and allthough I had no probs with toilet this time it did hurt and feel uncomfortable for longer, around 6 weeks. But ive fully healed from both and have no lasting effects.

Episiotomy, 4th degree internal tear, and a permanently split labia lobe from DS1... everything healed fairly well within 6 months. Dermoplast, witch hazel pads, ice packs, and pain killers really helped.

With DS2, I had a 2nd degree internal tear and a minor (no stitches) tear. By 2.5 weeks, I felt a ton better. For me, I went without pain meds this time, but everyone has their own individual pain tolerance levels.

I had to be cut right down my "gooch" and also a third degree tear (which i was traumatised to find out meant i had stitches literally up my bum) its now been 4 week. My cut doesn't hurt and seems to have healed perfectly, when i poo my bum hurts, like really hurts it feels like there's a really sharp bot on my poo and its scratching on its way out i don't know if this is a problem.. I have a app in july, it will have been 12 week since.. I don't know what this app is for but its at the hosp and says to give 1-2 hours for examinations. Now im kinda scared there gonna stick a camera up my bum...

anyway i haven't done anything special really, i don't have a bath so in the shower o would put warm shower head down there then do it cool, everytime i went to the loo id give my bits a quick wash with cotton wool and warm water, made sure i changed pad regulary. I didn't rest for days or not walk, sitting hurt more than walking, now standing feels like it aches my bits.. Soo yeah, still a bot of discomfort but i think all is healing well.

all the best

I had a third degree tear, and it took a good 2.5 months to feel normal again. I'm not going to lie the recovery sucked. but now its healed perfectly. Not trying to scare you, just want you to know it can take a while to feel 100% so you don't freak out like I did ;)
Best advice I can give you it take it easy as possible, and sit down if it starts to feel heavy down there, and do sitz baths to help the stitches dissolve. Hopefully your recovery is quicker than mine, but rest assured you'll make it through.
Oh and congratulations on your little bundle!

Ya it seems too be healing good! As I checked lol. I just noticed where its stitched that there is like a skin flap sticking out. Lol it kinda bothers me kinda like the stitching was done tightly and it puckered if you know what I mean? I wonder if that will be permanent. I hate the heavy feeling it only comes around when I stand too long. I do siz baths now 2 times daily.

yeah.. those heavy feelings sucked. Just remember to take it easy... sit down and relax~! I forgot the term they use for that.. (a skin flap you've described). I had a mini-snip at the 6-week pp checkup. I was expecting it to hurt like no others (but then I just gave birth.. what can hurt more? :haha:)... but it's just a little pinch and not as bad as i imagined. It stinks a little ... and had some spotting afterward but not bad at all.

It took me a while to feel 100% again. :sex: was tough! :haha:
